I've got a theory he knows nothing about AWS.

It’s AWS that is the money maker. Amazon web services. They print money.

Amazon Web Services is the reason why Amazon has consistently high valuations, not just the retail business.

Shipping from a warehouse costs sure, but shipping to a retail store, stocking it, displaying it, leasing the property, and the parking lot, maintainence and lighting and checkouts and etc etc

Amazon hosts THE INTERNET! That's how it makes money LOL.

Another big difference is that Amazon exists essentially in all countries whilst Walmart doesn't

Amazon annual revenues reached $575 billion in 2023, and Walmart total revenues reached $648 billion. Over the last five years (2018–2023), Amazon achieved a cumulative annual growth rate (CAGR) of 20%, significantly outpacing both Walmart's 5% growth and the 7% growth in total US retail sales (excluding auto and gas).

Hence Amazon purchasing Whole Foods and developing grocery delivery in addition to the media and tech platform revenue streams that exceed retail

This dude doesn’t understand that half the worlds IT infrastructure runs on Amazon AWS….

I think he’s wrong about the reasoning. I think people use Amazon because they can buy multiple things from one site rather than buying stuff from multiple sites and having to register with each site

I used to like his videos until I came across this bs. His understanding of core businesses is lacking and he perhaps stopped updating his knowledge base post 2002 😂.

you're missing out on AWS which is even used by US intelligence. It's a huge part of Amazon's profit margins.

This is guy is the most confident, wrong person in every other video on the internet.

He’s perfectly correct about the multiple purchases at the same time. Amazon is ok for lazy one-off purchases but there are superior retailers for several items.

No staff overheads and store costs automated warehouses, distribution the same for both no bulk restocking

If A company can deliver something faster than the postal service thats been around since practically the 1700s, I reckon it's valued exactly right

I've been telling people for years this guy is just a professional yepper, I don't know why people can't see it

Amazon’s strength in America and Canada is that it logistically relies on the efficiency of other companies (DHL, USPS etc) as a core part of its business model. Amazons weakness in developing economies is the same thing. Some of the most tempting developing economies use very locally focused (decentralised) production and distribution. Ideally, Amazon’s model is shoehorned into markets with already existing centralised production and the distribution network that provides.
