I'd rather drive a 30 year old Toyota than a brand new Fiat.

Emergency funds are for as the title suggests an emergency. If needing a car is an emergency, go ahead but If it's just for you to get a car, than the answer no.

His first mistake was buying a freaking Fiat. Sounds like someone didn't do his research.

Not starting once is not "uncomfortable" level. That is inconvenienced.

He said a 2005 Toyota Corolla broke down and he had to replace it... With a 2012 Fiat, MAJOR DOWNGRADE.

I'll bet his wife didn't take care of THE TOYOTA or skimped on changing the fluids/ air filter.

I currently have a corolla 2012, bought it used with 80k miles and paid the car and right now I have almost 150k miles and never had a problem with it and the roof paint is starting to show white flakes, all I did is making sure im keeping up with the maintenance like oil change so probably your girl might not doing regular maintenance with it thats why it broke down

Fiat is the #1 least reliable vehicle on the road

If he wants to hold on to that car for sentimental reasons then he should be the one driving it and dealing with its issues

Yeah let the wife burn out the clutch 🤦. Remember when vehicles were fixable.

Odd statement at the end about the sentimental value of a Fiat 😂 Must’ve had a Mormon missionary work in Italy

I believed him right up to the part where he said his Toyota Corolla broke down...

LOL "federal law"!

When I was married with a young son, my wife ALWAYS drove the best car we had. I drove a junker back and forth to work.

If the Fiat means that much to you, then sell your stick shift and use that cash to buy her a different cheap used car. Then you can drive the Fiat. Problem solved.

I've only owned 1 vehicle in my years of driving that I paid more than $3000 for, right now I drive a $500 Honda... I think she'll be fine in a $3000 car as long as it's still working.
