If you're ever stranded in deep snow, make sure you clear a path from your exhaust pipe to allow the exhaust to reach open air before you run your car to stay warm. You cannot smell carbon monoxide and if the path is blocked by deep snow that gas will enter your car and kill you. That exact thing happened a few years ago when a group of twenty something's were stranded at a ski resort and fell asleep in the car with the heater going. Unfortunately not one of them woke up. The car, and the exhaust pipe were buried under deep snow.

I’d be terrified to do this all by myself. I’d be scared id get stuck in the snow and I’d be unable to get out. Hats off to all the van lifers who do this in colder climates.

we lived in Canada and we had some strikt rules for the winter:among other things, never leave the house without a full tank of gas, chains, extra warm cloths, water and hot water in a thermos and a cooler with food. It served us well in many different ways.

It's 03.30am here and I'm in bed with my very toasty electric blanket on and my log fire is still blasting out heat, I can hear the Arctic wind howling outside oh and it's -34° at the moment here in Svalbard and the snow is falling down quite heavy did I become so back to sleep now.🙏🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️

I did that for 4 years in the colorado rockies. Loved every minute of it. Storms gave me a chance to rest, to sit in one spot for a couple days, and I enjoyed shoveling the snow. Alot, I made paths and stairs for fun.
I made snow shelters for my generator, and I had propane, internet, and dvds. So all was lovely, 75-80 degrees in the van😊And I skied most every day, so I was thankful for those rests..

The bed lowering from the ceiling blew my mind. You did an AMAZING job on this van! I've never seen a setup that nice.

The bed coming down, with the blue lighting, & cozy nook, & utterly beautiful, & amazing.
You did an excellent job.

A tip: the night before drive back and forth 3 or 4 times through the snow making tracks. Even if it snows more at night you will still have a way higher chance of making it out in the AM.

That bed is amazing 😍 For snow: it might be useful to cover the front windshield before it starts snowing, park closer to the road and install an expandable "roof" above your entry door to keep away the snow. Lucky and safe travels for you, great video, thanks for sharing 😊👍🙏

Impressed at the fact you were prepared with the chains, knew how to use them, and made a point to mention you'd clear the roof before driving the main road. Great setup, great editing, cool drone work. Subscribed for more!

I was caught in a huge snow storm in my husband’s car in the mountains of British Columbia on my way from Alaska to Seattle. I. Loved. Every. Minute. Of. It. Sleeping overnight. Digging myself out. Have done that trip solo twice. And I’m British🇬🇧so completely out of my depth you’d imagine 🤣Am always prepared & travelling as a lone woman am always super aware of my surroundings & keep in regular contact with home. What an adventure. Love this vid ❄️

Words of advice, you can tarp your windshield when it’s snowing like that so all you have to do when you wake up is pull the tarp off with all the accumulated snow. So you dont have to shovel everything off.

Won't even lie. At a lot of angles you show in the van. I can't even tell it's inside a van. It is such a cozy homey setup and I love it. I'd probably end up watching the snow build up from the driver's seat

From my experience, as long as your front tires are turned in either direction, you’re not going anywhere. Plan it out so you can get going and build up a little speed first, then you can turn the tires. You should plan ahead when you park for the night to be able to do this the next day or whenever you leave. Hope this helps you and I really like your van and the way it’s set up. Have fun out there!

I would love doing that! I drive an eighteen wheeler and love it when it gets stormy and I get parked in a safe place, staying in the truck is pretty much like being in a small camper. The wind rocks the cab back and forth all night while im nice and warm and toasty in my bed!!😊

I’m watching this in my home in Pennsylvania. The temperature was 99° today and with the humidity it felt like 110°!! I love the winter, and I have watched this video several times since it was first posted. I crave winter and snow! I love this video. I thoroughly enjoyed this video!!! Beautiful van and I am happy for you.

I'm from Montana and lived for years in North Dakota too and I would never even think of driving in weather like that without a 4WD or AWD vehicle. Glad your adventure worked out for you. Stay safe man!

You could make Chili or stews. Chicken cacciatore or parm. omelets, pancakes, shrimp scampi, pan pizza, Alfredo pasta with seafood. You can make a roast on the fire or a roast chicken if you get a covered cast iron pot. Steaks can be cooked so many ways also
