Producers Mara Isaacs and Dale Franzen, and Warner Classics, in collaboration with Ghostlight Records, have released a new recording of the acclaimed Off-Broadway musical Hadestown, recorded live during the original run of the show at New York Theatre Workshop. This new musical written by celebrated singer-songwriter Anaïs Mitchell and developed with and directed by the three-time OBIE Award-winning director Rachel Chavkin, follows Orpheus' mythical quest to overcome Hades and regain the favor of his one true love, Eurydice. Together we travel from wide open plains where love and music are not enough nourishment to survive the winter, down to Hadestown, an industrialized world of mindless labor. Inspired by traditions of classic American folk music and vintage New Orleans jazz, Mitchell's beguiling melodies and poetic imagination pit nature against industry, faith against doubt, and love against death.

I realy love musicals that makes someone's dialogue be very important in a song like even though their not realy singing it but just using the correct pace. And noone would ever think of making or listening to a version of it with only the singing parts.

Is there a full video of this performance one can buy - of this particular cast's performance? I've fallen in love with watching the two animatics of, "Way Down Hadestown, " and "Wait for Me, " by Miranda Pla, and she seems to capture the look of the cast so well that I don't think I'd be happy seeing another version. :)

Ugh I just wish I could see more clips from this production. I like most of the Broadway cast but for some reason it just feels off to me
