Rev Reads reviews the Book of Enoch discussing the importance of this ancient writing along with providing a caution for those who take the intriguing journey into the story of Enoch.

The Book of Enoch tells a narrative of the world before the flood of Noah's day, the visions of Enoch, and the wisdom of Enoch. This book was not written by Enoch but clearly draws off the material in Isaiah and especially Daniel.

This book is ideal for those who enjoy reading speculation on the angelic realm.

No sir, Jude and Peter make vague references that aren't necessarily parallels of the book of Enoch. People assume they are talking about the same thing, but they don't have to be. Neither Jude or Peter say anything about angels mating with humans, and for good reason - it is not possible. The book is filled with all sorts of scientific innacuracies, because the author didn't know better.

Thank you for this. It is nice with a clear and a matter of fact review.

You might want to study the Book of Enoch a little bit harder because the fact that he has more detailed Prophecies of the son of man than the entire first and second New and Old Testament together holds weight and if you say this is not inspired what is inspired prophecy if it isn't that inspired prophecy of Jesus Christ? Enoch also gives insight about the trinity in which I mean that he not Satan the head of days God and there was a being with him who had the appearance of a man and when he knocked at the angel who he was when he was and why he went with the head of days the angel said this is the son of man the electron the righteous one in whom righteousness dwells and Jude Jesus is half brother quotes The Book of Enoch word for word and to say The Book of Enoch has nothing to do with the pre flood anti-diluvian times is complete blasphemy because if you take Genesis chapter 6 an Enoch chapter 6 you will find out this is where Moses got the story of the Nephilim Giants from. Now do you really believe that Enoch doesn't have proof of a testimony in the Bible because I can prove that quickly go to Hebrews 11-5 Enoch was translated but before his translation he had this testimony that he pleased God and we know Peter also says Amy prophet of old didn't speak but God spoke through them and what's crazy is in Jude he uses Enochs prophecy as his own Prophecy in the New Testament and we know every Prophecy in the Bible has to be fulfilled. So it's really dangerous to try to say Enoch it's not prophetic because Jude 8 facts in which Enoch is the seventh from Adam and he did prophesy in which that makes him a prophet and then Enochs prophecy that Jude uses, is the last Prophecy in the Bible before the Book of Revelation and add to that Enoch is considered to be one of the two witnesses that comes forth with the son of man on the great day

Do you mean 1, 2 and 3 Enoch or only 1 Enoch? And could you please recommend us a translation, perhaps even with a commentary of the translator?

You might look at the Book of Jubilees. It’s another excellent insight into Second Temple Judaism.
