I filmed honeybees flying and stinging in high speed/slow motion to make some new observations about how bees work! Special thanks to the apiculture lab at NC State University for having me out for a day to film! You can check out their work here:

Thanks also to Jon Perry and the State Clearly YouTube channel for inspiring me to film honeybee stingers up-close and in slow motion. Check out their video about honeybee stingers here:

Check out the Ant Lab video about how ant stingers work, featured in this video here:

This is a guy who just wants to know everything about insects !!! And pretty much figures it hours to get film of bees stinger in action. Incredible !!!

I can almost feel the effort the bees put in to flying when watching in slow motion. Quite the full body work out for the little fellas. Great footage.

This footage is awesome! I'd never thought of the mechanics of venom delivery before, it's wickedly cool to see the moving parts in action.

I hope we get to see other bees too. I mean, as you said, honeybees are very well-documented, but it'd be fun to see more solitary bees, bumble bees, carpenter bees and such even if they might be somewhat similar.

2:22 THE LITTLE WIGGLES! THEY'RE SO CUTE I JUST CANT ❤😭
Also seeing them bump into each other in flight is funny!
Those stingers are honestly pretty scary! I didn't know the stingers move like that to dispense the venom.
I really love your videos ❤

My south Iberian bees would be much more "eager" to pose for the venom shot. 😅
