I agree with the choice to replace the drain instead of snaking. Once compromised with roots, a storm drain is going to need snaked every few years to keep up with the growth, and the thin corrugated walls do not hold up well against serrated blades spinning 400 rpm

With your method what kind of pipe? PVC with holes? Where are the holes located? Or will corrugated work. Seems like any pipe will work. And the problem was that there was no rocks between the pipe and the soil. What do you think

What if you wrapped it in fabric first?

What kind of pipe would you use instead?

Do you have a material list that are good quality products to use for a french drain

Roots will always be a problem like rust and squirrels!

Did they backfill the trench with stone? For my French drain I used 1 inch rock to backfill the trench, I dug the trench 2ft deep, and I attempted to get some slope. I used perforated pipe with a sock. I don't have any trees in the area. I wished I would have used the geotextile fabric. However, do you think my French drain will last awhile with the stone backfill and no trees around to invade the system? Can the stone dry out the roots if they grow into it?

Any opinions about the thicker woven commercial grade pipe socks? It’s the same material that comes in the rolls when making the ‘burrito’ style French drains; wrapping the pipe and gravel together.

What if you dont want an open drain like that near the end of video? Whats the best way to cover it back up and not have dirt stopping it up

Wouldn't the gravel without the plastic fabric have the same effect without polluting the environment?

Isn't that why there's usually a cleanout?

I ran over 100ft of corrugated drainage pipe across a property of my friend's, I suggested We use another method, he didn't want to because he didn't want to buy materials or pay me to buy them, Now because he wanted to be a cheap ass, nearly the whole pipe is clogged with dirt & roots, Now he's pissed at me, for him cutting corners, take my advice, Never Work for a friend.

Or even better, use NDS EZ-Drain. It is the far superior product and is easier to install and lasts for decades without interference.

"Geotextile" is French for "scam."

I mean yes, but what you are looking at in this video is not in any way a good quality french drain. It is about 3 feet too shallow and and a 20 tons of rock short.

Doesn't explain how it wont have same problem

They used the wrong pipe or this is a complete failure of a French drain.
