Professional chef Chris Cheung, owner of East Wind Snack Shop and home cook Emily are swapping ingredients and hitting the kitchen to rustle up some eggs and bacon for breakfast. We set Emily up with $143 worth of supplies - everything she’d need to make Chris’ decadent wok scrambled eggs with caviar and bacon. Meanwhile, a modest $14 worth of ingredients was sent back the other way for chef Chris to elevate into something gourmet. As is customary, food scientist Rose dialed in to assist our dear Emily with a few questions he had along the way. Which egg and bacon bonanza are you most interested in?

Honestly, Chef Chris's breakfast is really cool! Who would've thought to use white bread as dumpling wrapper and poached egg as a whole filling for dumpling; all this served with a side of meringue!? a spicy one as well!? It's crazy how such simple ingredients and common preparations gets combined so creatively with skillful technique...

Love it when the pro chefs actually stick to the ingredients they're given instead of adding lots of stuff!! He made something incredible out of very simple ingredients - and it can definitely be replicated at home!

These pro chef vs home cook episodes are so much better when the chef sticks to the tray of basic ingredients and (only) improves them with his techniques and knowledge.

Why is no one talking about the best quote if the episode
"My wife likes her bacon extra crispy
I like my bacon not so crispy
I usually have my bacon extra crispy"

This is probably one of the best pro chef parts on the channel - he literally made a dish that looks jaw dropping and he used things that are in the pantry of people who practically never cook O.o

"I'm seeing more chicken than I'd expect for bacon and scrambled eggs..." Emily continues to be the most effortlessly funny person in the Epicurious squad.

All these years and so many Level 1 chefs later, Emily is still my favourite. Just so chilled, naturally funny and I’ve learned so much from her food journey :)

Chef Chris and Chef Saul have been hands down my favorite cooks, so much goes on in those heads.

I really thought that Chef Chris would need to fish for different ingredients somewhere else for this video but omg he managed to do everything with bread, eggs, bacon, and jam.

I love Chef Chris' recipe. It's simple but inventive and is way more cost effective. I will be trying this recipe soon. Everything he used is something I have around my house and I appreciate the new ways he uses ingredients.

The fact that Chef Chris managed to do such an impressive and unique dish without throwing anything else random in and spiralling away from the theme? Definitely impressed, I love when the chefs don’t bring out something else. He has so much skill.

Chef Chris absolutely killed this challenge.

There was so little he could work with, yet he made such a unique and delicious dish... without cheating!
I guess why I'm so impressed is, is that it looks simple, kind of like something anyone who would want to try, can make easily.

I think Chef Chris had possibly the emptiest tray I’ve ever seen on the channel and yet this is an AMAZING final result. I’d love to see him more in future videos.
