Our Journey! How did we get here?
In the winter of 2019 we moved in to our self built van full time to begin living, working and travelling Canada. We quickly fell in love with chasing our dreams of adventuring off the beaten path, living off grid and being self sustaining. We drove our van thousands of miles through various countries-Canada, USA, Mexico & Guatemala. All of which we documented here on our channel, be sure to check that out! After many years on the open road we found ourselves 15 acres of remote woods on the East Coast of Canada where we are building a homestead and renovating our fully off the grid cabin. We are diving into this chapter of our lives in no experience, we're so happy we can bring you all along as we learn to do it all with our own two hands. Thank you for being here with us for cabin life, van life and all the in between!

I'm happy to see kind, caring, loveable girls like yourselves, working so hard and reaching your goals day by day. You are excellent role models to girls and women everywhere. Keep on keeping on!

Suggestion: I bought five acres in Central Oregon years ago. It had Jack pine on it which tends to grow close together. A friend forest service forest manger told us that to be healthy, pine should be spaced at least 17 ft apart. Otherwise it encourages insects (like the pine beetle) and the limbs keep dying because they are not getting light. That makes the tree unhealthy, again, encourages insects and disease, and presents a higher fire risk. So we slowly thinned out the smaller and less healthy trees, and the remaining trees loved us for it! They even waved at us (with some help from the wind) because the sun and wind could get to them!

When cutting boards on a table saw, use your push stick on the side of the board next to the fence. This keeps the board tight to the fence getting a straight cut. If you push the outside part of the board it may pinch the blade and buckle even tho you have a guard on the blade. Keep up the excellent content. You ladies rock....

So glad you were able to get that bridge upgraded. I hope you'll be able to get some solutions with your driveway soon too. I love that you had Tyler and Todd around to come help out, what amazing friends.

Great video. You young ladies are too cute. I love y’all’s attitudes. The days of everyone having a happy, go-lucky attitude, are gone. People seem to be pissed off all the time. It’s refreshing to see two young ladies loving each other, having goals, and then enjoying the process of accomplishing those goals.
I did notice that you seemed a little embarrassed to have to buy a generator, and having to use it. A generator is an absolute necessity.

We've been building/renovating together for 44 years and we STILL have issues with angles! Wish we'd had those cool tools when we were your age, tho! We built our first bed in 1977 before we ever heard of IKEA! Nice job, VWs!!

Will you guys be wintering there? A new roof is a must, insulation, a fire stove and…. Logs for the fire….it’s hard to do it all by yourself….but can’t wait to see it unfold!

You ladies are so inspiring. Not just in the way that you go about doing things but in your positive attitudes. Truly lovely and refreshing to witness. Can't wait to see what you do with your place. Go slow, lift with your legs, and be safe.

Do yourself a favor and get a couple of pairs of collapsible sawhorses so you can work off the ground when you're doing projects like the barn doors. You can also use them as makeshift tables with a couple of pieces of wood on them too. You're MUCH better off working standing up than crouching on the ground. BTW putting a lock on that shed doesn't work if the hinge screws are accessible. You're better off with heavy angle iron bars across the front.

Ladies,
Bushfies are a worry here in Australia let me say.
You really need to keep a clearance from the woods to the house but always...ALWAYS... have an evacuation plan and a safety spot to escape flames.
Fire will always be a function of wind. Dry conditions + wind can lift the flames to an inferno.
Stay safe ladies... Great to see you happy.
