Milk collection/delivery in Britain didn't stop because of birds or hygiene, it stopped because the local dairies were outpriced by supermarkets - you'd pay the same price for ONE PINT of milk from a local dairy that would get you FOUR from the supermarket.
Understandably, the re-use of the local dairy bottles was and still is considered a lot less harmful to the planet than the cheap plastic containers found in the supermarket, but if you're a family living under the breadline (and many were when this started in the early 90's) of course you're going to go for the cheaper option.

The woodpecker story was a bit short: any acorn they've collected has been inspected and found to be inhabited through a tiny little hole on the tip, where an acorn beetle had deposited its egg; woodpeckers don't eat acorns, they never even open them, they always place the acorn point-first into holes, raising the egg til its big enough to eat; the larva chews its way out, finds itself trapped till a woodpecker pulls out the acorn and eats the grub.

That scar thing is true. I was at a party that involved a lot of things in my 20s and ended up wearing nothing but my underpants and a layer of dirt. My fair-weather friends were shocked by how many scars I had. Most you don't really see unless I tan or get dirt on them. I love my body's tendency to get scars that neither raise nor dip when fully healed.

Even without smooth transitions you still manage to thoroughly educate and entertain. Being self-aware and funny has its perks, I see. Excellent content!

There are some parts of the UK where milk is still delivered during the night in a foil capped glass bottle. The production process has changed so that the cream no longer floats to the top anymore. It's been a good many years since I had any milk stolen by birds!

My parents still get milk delivered by the milkman in the UK (partly to do with keeping local people in a job and supporting a local business and partly because they drink a lot of tea). I think the blue tits have forgotten what to do though. When I was a kid in the 80/90s the milkman would leave a brick on top of the bottles so the blue tits couldn't get at it. I don't think it is a thing anymore though as they are probably one of about 40 households in my (25, 000 people) hometown that get milk delivered. So maybe the blue tits that knew how to do it didn't have enough availability teach their babies/friends(?). There are still blue tits around though, just no milk.

Videos like this are so neat! I love random bits of information, even unrelated bits! That cardinal was most impressive too.

The acorn thing reminded me of something I once watched on Animal Planet; I think it may have been an episode of "Nature's Biggest Secrets Finally Revealed". In the program, there was this large, industrial, drum-shaped antenna for cable or internet services, I believe. It was covered in somewhat uniform holes all over and the worker was checking on it because a bunch of local customers suddenly had a service outage. When the holey cover was removed, a couple hundred pounds of acorns poured out onto the ground. It seems some not-so-intelligent woodpeckers were storing their acorns there, never understanding why their food disappeared into the holes but continuing to deposit them in there anyway. 🤦🏻‍♀️😂😂 From the point of view of a human, I think I'd be pretty pissed that all my vital, life-sustaining work was a total waste! Luckily for the birds though, they're able to continue doing what they do in blissful ignorance, finding a new place to stash their food- hopefully in a place where they're able to retrieve/use it this time!! 😂😂

The same episode showed the opening of a wall in a garage or barn, which had received the same treatment, and revealed a few hundred pounds in there as well! 🤦🏻‍♀️😂

I like that you said that the tits adapted longer beaks, instead of evolving. In one or two generations animals and insects can adapt and change color or grow longer legs or longer beaks or go shorter back again, depending on their food sourse or envirronment.
