How to install a Stretch Fit™ Belt | Tools & Installation

Some engines have special accessory belt drive systems that are not equipped with a tensioning device. Elastic belts such as Gates Micro-V® Stretch Fit® belts, have been developed specifically for them. These belts are self-tensioning and do not require the presence of a tensioner.

▬ Stretch Fit™ Belt installation in 9 Steps▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
Step 1: Identify the installation tools you will need for your application from the inside of the belt sleeve. If a bolt is necessary to stabilise the tool against the pulley the instructions will tell you which bolt goes where (position A, B or C).

Step 2: Before starting the belt installation procedure, the tool must be pre-set. Screw the bolt until the tool is firmly stabilised against the pulley. Leaving no additional space between the tool and the pulley.

Step 3: The Stretch Fit® belt is placed around the pulleys.

Step 4: Place the tool between the pulley and the belt and hold firmly.

Step 5: Use the appropriate key (according to the installation instructions) to rotate the pulley, while you continue to hold the installation tool.

Step 6: While rotating the pulley, make sure that the ribs of the belt do not turn towards you. The back of the belt should always be facing you

Step 7: Check to ensure the belt is in the correct position, with all of the ribs in the pulley grooves.

Step 8: Check to ensure the belt is in the correct position, with all of the ribs in the pulley grooves.

Step 9: Ensure that all of the ribs are in the pulley grooves. Keep rotating the pulley, while applying careful thumb pressure to the edge of the belt. The belt will eventually sit in the correct position.
