These are handy tools, this is a simple version but works well endough. These are using to install modern elastic drive belt on automobiles without using a screwdriver and damaging the belt.

Thank you for the explanation of what the bolts are for. My wife's car is stranded in a parking lot and I am replacing the belt tomorrow morning. I rented THREE different style tools (to ensure I had at least one option that should work - I'll be bringing cable ties too just in case lol) but NONE of the instructions are useful in ANY way. I'm not exaggerating, they are terrible, two kits utilize bolts and NEITHER clarify at all what the bolts are for. I've replaced dozens of belts, but never a stretch, so my confidence was riding around 6/10. After seeing this simple explanation, I am now certain it'll be a piece of cake. Thank you again 🍻

Just used one of these to INSTALL AC stretch belt onto my 2013 Mazda 3i. NON-Skyactiv. I had to use it because I couldn't use zip ties. I had NO openings in my model. Turned out there was a shield that blocked out any chance of sliding a zip tie into the usual back area you see in other tube clips. In my case, I also had a coolant line that had tubes that were creating 'just' tight enough of a gap that I had to loosen 1 bolt and move the coolant line out of the way. In order to allow enough clearance for the blue circular side that faces you. Best of luck to anyone else out there. In case your model also prevents you from using the zip tie method. hope my tip helps. One last thing, the screws? They did NOT hold the tool tight at all. Nothing. I had to jam it in there tight and hoped that the little gap at 3:17 kept it steady enough as it rotates around. Thankfully it did. Best of luck!

8.8 means it's Grade 5... strong enough to do what this tool is intended to do.. but not "Grade 8"...10.9 is Grade
Bolts of ISO class 8.8 and the slightly stronger class 9.8 roughly correspond to an SAE Grade 5 bolt. An ISO Class 10.9 bolt roughly corresponds to an SAE Grade 8 bolt.

Never heard of these. Maybe they go hand in hand with my plastic oil pan and drain plug?

Instead of putting a 30 dollars tensioner on a car, Manufacturers decided a stretch belt was a good idea, if you sell millions of cars that is 30 dollars on every car in profit saved, same with the spare tyre (tire) The space saver, another nasty trick like the wet belt fiasco, Automotive fraud on the public,

Stretchy belts... hmm... maybe a better way than the belt and tensioner setup. We'll see.
