I remember Bruce admitting this when he had Daken at gunpoint. It was a comic where Wolverine, Daken, Bruce and Skaar all met up at a bar. Skaar had gone into human form, via Daken's pheromones, and Daken attempted to kill him.

Eventually, Bruce got Daken at gunpoint, and Daken quipped that Bruce didn't have what it took to kill him and Bruce told him the story in this video.
