Thankfully the plugin that allows bedrock + java crossplay is a whole lot better than it was a couple months ago and seems to be solving the parity issues on it's own which is cool.

It is possible to do. Just not very practical. Also I would imagine it is incredibly difficult to write the code for this to be possible because the games are created with different coding languages. I hope that one day real and functional crossplay from Java to bedrock will come to Minecraft soon.
