I've only just gone and bought another classic Honda Civic. This time it's a first generation model from 1979, let me take you for a look arount it.
I've been looking for a good 1st gen example for ages and spotted this one that came in from Queensland Australia.
It's not perfect by any means but it is in good condition and wont take a whole lot to get it looking great again. Were getting ready for 50 Year's of the Civic in 2022.

Thanks for watching Stavros969

This was My husbands car all the way from NSW Australia, 👌 He loved it. He fitted the stickers himself. Amazing to see it on YouTube. He was sad to part with it, but sadly he didn’t have time for it. He bought it from the original owners family who very rarely drove it.

You should leave it the way it is it looks class

Leave the wheels and stickers on it, interesting classic vehicles have stories of there own, they might have been importer fitted options, was common back then, like the Mitsubishi l200 ute sport had sport stickers

I saw one of these civics in a junkyard. The body was mint and paint was also. Seats inside were Missing but everything was there. I asked the guys from the junkyard if they would sell it to me but, they said no. I was pissed.

I don't usually like fancy wheels and body stripes but on that nice old Civic they all look really good, if it was mine I would keep them. Also I dare say the paint under the stripes will be a different colour from the body.

The stripes looks original. That was an option in the catalog here in Norway.
Not the bottom stripe tho...
Alloys where not an option, only 12 an 13 inch rims.

If you remove those stripes the car will have to repainted down both sides because you will have "ghosting" where the decals were.
The original paint will have oxidized where the paint under the stickers won't.
Be a disaster.
Leave it as it is.
It's a lovely little thing.

Awesome!! I just came across a local posting in Albuquerque with one of these going for $2600 USD. Seems tempting!!

I owned a 78 and 79 Civic which are long gone but currently have a 77 restored. I was surprised you have the washer fluid in the bag, that was on 73 to 77 civics. 78 / 79 civics have a standard reservoir on the opposite side. My 77 had the bag but I decided I liked the bottle better so I used the bottle and put the bag in storage. I have an extra set of 12" rims in Toronto, Canada if you need them. I am almost ready to scrap them since nobody needs them anymore. Leave the decals, I believe they were an option

Hi Stavros from Australia. I wanted to say that yes, it does get hot here from time to time but if it is hot enough for the wood panel to peel off then you would see other heat damage elsewhere on the dash and upholstery and it looks mint to be honest. I think it wasn't there to begin with and perhaps the original driver didn't like them and got them taken off. Best of luck with it, they were very popular here although you never wanted to get stuck behind them because they had a tendency to smell bad.

My family owned 3 of these cars. Great cars and great memory of these cars. I learned to drive on one of these.

Thank god you posted this video. I just bought a '79 myself and I couldn't find that damn hood release. It sure is hidden well!

What a great car, congratulations. Why fit central locking if you want to keep it original? The alarm I can understand, looking forward to future videos on this great little classic.
