Isn't it oversimplifying to just say heavier groups? You have to consider it atom by atom. So if one side has a chlorine atom and the other has a great big long alkyl chain, the chlorine atom would "win" because chlorine has a greater atomic number than carbon. Even if the alkyl chain is heavier than the chlorine. It's the atomic number of each atom that matters. Thanks.
