What if Oda didn't give Zoro a real challenge yet because he wants to power up Luffy to match Zoro's level first so Luffy isn't disrespected as the Captain.

You forgot to mention in fishman island luffy in g2 said that octupus guy was pretty strong and zoro one shotet that same guy but also buffed on steriod pills and stated that he couldn't even kill his boredom

Look before luffy train ryon haki, luffy got 1 hit by Kaido attack, now in the manga Zoro block two emperors combined attack, I got to say Zoro power is stronger than luffy at that time in his gear 4 without a doubt, but the luffy now and zoro right now, I must say they at least very close to each other lvl. Just base on my point of view by reading the manga.

I wanna defend Kata in one thing. I think he relies on FS to much, but given that his hardening was enough to HURT luffy when they punched each others fists, both covered in haki. Meaning if Kata used more armament to defend himself instead of dodging, he could tank way way more than he did in this fight.
His approach to combat is just too reliant on future sight, and he needs to acknowledge his other strenghts and incorportate them more into his style.
My point is, Kata is not as weak as you make him out to be, he just has a stupid mindset. He never used armament to lessen the hits he DID take from Luffy. He relied on him being able to dodge way too much.
I still think Zoro beats him obviously, I just wanted to defend Kata on the one thing I can, trying to be fair lol.

I just wanna say that given Zoros current performance in the manga, we HAVE TO assume that Zoro was MUCH stronger than pre future sight Luffy. Luffy has heavily improved throughout the post timeskip, Zoro did NOT. And he still does BETTER than Luffy on the roof currently?
Yeah, no matter how you slice it, this means Zoro must have been way stronger than Luffy right out of the timeskip, which makes sense considering Zoro had the most perfect teacher a swordsman could have imagined to ask for. But my point is, if Zoro was weaker/equal to Luffy out of the timeskip, it would be nonsensical to think he could compete with Luffy after Luffy went through all of those powerups. The only explanation is that Zoro had the headstart and Luffy was catching up throughout the timeskip, or else the Wano powerdynamic makes zero sense.
And since Zoro had no enemies to outshine Luffy with, it was ok for the typical protagonist shine storytelling. Zoro being stronger didn't affect anything since he never had to draw on his highest caliber of strenght. So it is totally fine and changes nothing.
But it allows us to logically justify Zoros CURRENT performance in Wano. So I believe Zoro MUST have been far stronger than Luffy out of the timeskip and most likely they only actually became equals again after Luffy learned advanced armament.

Why people forget Katakuri has high defence meanwhile Zoro has high attack capability it all comes down to if Zoro is fast enough to land a blow on katakuri. The only way katakuri wins is if he decided to fight from long range with his galaxy doughnuts and uses his awakening so that zoro cannot close the gap between them. Thats the only situation I see Katakuri winning. And the only situation I see Zoro winning is if he is able to do rapid attacks fast enough to counter his future sight and thats the only situation Zoro is winning. This is a 50/50 and all comes down to how Katakuri will fight and this matchup is just stupid to begin with.

Zoro got up from a lightning attack and jumped right back in from Big Mom but when Big Mom defended herself against Luffy in Gear4 he passed the fuck out!

The thing about zoro and luffy is they evolve within a fight. Dude almost unlocked “sound of all things pre timeskip”.

Vs future sight.
In a difficult situation like near death, it is possible zoro might be able to counter future sight by learning it mid fight.

Vs awakening.
Pika controlled all the ground and made it difficult to stand in ground for zoro but since he can cut and cut and cut those stone. Pika looked like weakling. Similarly he can cut mochi if necessary.

Vs Armament haki.
Oda said zoro special is this field. So we can assume here they may be in similar footing.

Pre Ennma:
So unless it really happen, it not as easy to assume who will win. I would say this might be like zoro vs mr1.

Post Ennma:
We did not even got chance to see his full power without ennma. With ennma i assume fight will be like enes loby zoro vs kaku. Difficult but one shot end.
