I took my dad for his surgery about 10 years ago he was in his 80s. He said it was a miracle surgery and told me to get it done! I laughed and said I don’t have cataracts. Well, now I do, I’m not even 60 but am looking forward to not having to wear glasses or contacts. I won’t mind reading glasses if I have to.

I had my first cataract removal surgery on April 7th, and had already been diagnosed with dry eye syndrome. My left eye was drier after surgery and I just had to use my wetting drops a few times per day. I had astigmatism and a TORIC lens implant was used to correct the astigmatism. My eyesight in Left eye is 20/20 now. I can read regular print. I’m hoping my Right eye surgery which is in 2 days is just as good.I have worn glasses since age 3. Imagine not having to wear glasses after wearing them for 62 years! I’m excited for surgery on Thursday, the 21st of April, 2022.

I had my cataract surgery three years ago, one eye at a time. I can see without prescription glasses, and only need glasses for reading. It was amazing

I had my cataract surgery back in my 50s. I will soon be 81. It took several visits before the doctor was able to get all the info needed. I opted to get normal close vision as I was an avid reader and an engineer working on both drawings and computers. The first surgery used a hard plastic lens and was done only numbing the eye. It was described to me as it was done … fascinating! The second was a foldable plastic lens that had 3 metal tabs to lock it in place. Unfortunately, this meant that I can never have an MRI. I appreciate everything you commented on and was surprised that my doctor and I discussed nearly all those items back in the day.

I had cataract surgery on my right eye
I am beyond blessed because I now have 20/20 vision. I could not see the guide on my tv without walking up close. Night glare was terrible. Street lights had a rainbow circle around each. There was no pain at all with the surgery. I will have left eye next week. You won’t believe how bright everything looks. Yeah!

I was scared to get both eyes done at one time, so I only did the worst one first. Ones in the room the procedure took 10 minutes and recovery was immediate. I was so sad I didn’t do both at the same time but then Covid hit and it took me two years to go back. Got the second eye done. Everything went great. Couldn’t be happier

It is now Oct 2024. I am 75 years old. I recently had my Retina detachment corrected, but now my eye for distance is getting blurry - up close is much better. Thank you for all these tips to know before my cataract surgery. Going in to see the Doctor tomorrow to get checked and prepared for measurements visit and see what condition my one eye is in.
I will see what the Doctor has to say and is nice to know these videos exist on You Tube to know what to ask the Doctor.
Thanks for the video. Take care.

i have dry eye disease and i was SO happy my eye doc is fixing it for me during surgery.... i wish I knew they could do this years ago... it's such a big problem. yea.. thanks for sharing these tips. it helps everyone do better for success. Insurance needs to start paying up for those who need better lens. its so unfair for people who can not afford lenses that can give you better eye site than standards that will NOT give someone better vision. that part when it comes to someones vision is terrible. Insurance does not pay for a BETTER eye site. sad cause vision is priceless i know. however so many can not afford to finance it or and lots of reasons why they can not come up with an additional 4-5 grand out of pocket. so many who go through this because they can not pay MORE out of pocket.

I had my cataracs removed last fall, 4 weeks apart. I was terrified until after my first was done and I couldn't wait to get the second one done. I can see so much better. I have glasses but I only need them at dark or when it is raining. My doctor put lens in where I don't have a problem reading. But I still see better all around. Love my doctor.

I have keratoconus and bad dry eye in both eyes and was very short sighted. I had cataracts on the back surface of both lenses. The surgeon put me on a number of eyedrops for a couple of weeks before surgery to settle things down. I then had the worst eye done first and the other two weeks later using toric lenses. My distance vision is now better than I've had for 40 years, even with glasses. I can also manage most up close tasks and wear glasses only for fine work. My biggest problem now is remembering I'm no longer short sighted. Lol

I had my cataracts removed about three years ago. I went into the surgery with a -15 diagnosis. The surgeon gave me an option you did not mention. I could have one eye corrected for distance viewing and the other for reading. I actually chose to have both done for distance. The surgeon was most meticulous about the calculations and had his staff assess the data three times before he was satisfied with the recommendation. He chose to do the operations two weeks apart. I was absolutely blown away when the bandage was removed from the first eye and I could read the very bottom line of the eye chart without assistance! The second operation produced the same result! According to the surgeon the result is I have vision equal to the top four percent in Australia. Three years later I can still read the bottom line. I have had no complications but yes I do need reading glasses. Let me tell you it makes a great deal of difference to your driving confidence particularly at night and I can now be sure whether the speed sign indicates 30, 60 or 80 before I actually drive past it! Best thing I ever did (Also allows me to see a tennis ball before it gets to the net when playing tennis!)

Just had cataract surgery on both eyes. I also have dry eyes. The results are astounding! Dry eyes are better and I can see without glasses. Best thing I ever did.

I had my cataract done a few weeks ago. I heard the doctor say, “OK!” I thought he meant he was ready to start, when in fact he meant he was finished with the operation. The operation in itself took about two minutes, I calculate. Easy!
