What Makes Mexican Boxers So Great?

Mexican boxers have consistently put on some of the most exciting bouts in the history of the sport. Known for their relentless aggression, they can overwhelm opponent’s with dangerous maneuvers and tactics from the very start of the fight. McGregor famously bragged that he had turned Mayweather into a Mexican when Floyd got aggressive during the later rounds of their unprecedented boxing match. Fighters like Julio Cesar Chavez, Canelo Alvarez, and Ricardo Lopez are infamous for their incredible displays of refined ferocity in the squared circle.

You forgot to mention, Mexican boxers tend to have chins of fucking steel dude. Seriously, I have nothing but admiration for Mexican boxers, they always put on some of the best performances win or lose. I admire them a lot, their “never give up” style is seriously inspirational.

When I have been asked about Mexican style boxing I have always described it as aggressive defense. You have to be a master at defense to have the confidence to persistently pressure forward. Also, something that people forget is that defense and offense are two sides of the same coin: to truly understand one is to understand both.

Also cesar Chavez would keep his head or move his head to the outer side of the opponents gloves when he was squaring in close to keep his head out of danger and to better set up very powerful hook.
