The problem with batteries is that they are so heavy. It would be better to use a small battery for peak power during take-off and otherwise just use a gasoline generator. That way the boat would be much lighter and use less energy, thus negating the higher cost of gasoline. Charging at a a dock typically costs around 0.5 euro per kWh. That is not far from gasoline... So the total cost of ownership might be cheaper with a solution like that. Of course if the goal is zero emissions, then batteries and hydrogen fuel cells are the only solutions.
