FIRST TIME in Bandung (Not What I Expected!) 🇮🇩

Hey everyone! In this vlog, I’m exploring Bandung , Indonesia for the first time. I start the day solo, wandering the city streets and grabbing some local food at a nice local spot.

Earlier, on the Whoosh train, I met a local man named Henry. Later, he meets up with me and takes me around the city, showing me some awesome places to eat and some great viewpoints overlooking Bandung city.

After arriving to Bandung city I went out straight away to get some food at restaurant my friend Pat recommended, I went there on foot it was quite a journey, but also gave me good overview of the city.

I ordered some local salad like dish and rice. They also gave me free unripened tomato sambal that was kinda weird medicine tasting, but not bad. There were also some plastic looking berries on that sambal plate, I had to ask my friend If I can even eat those because those looked to me like decorative item. But I ended up eating those and I can tell taste is better than it looks. Those berrys look so unripe and green, but actually they are ready to eat.

After restaurant I took motorbike taxi through Bandung city back to my budget hotel, because in hour or so I had meeting planned with Henry.

When in hotel I had quick shower and got ready to go out, in front of my hotel I met some lovely locals who were very open to have conversation with tourist. As Henry arrived it was time to say bye to new friends to go and explore more Bandung.

We drove through Braga street it's well known street in Bandung, we just drove through that street and Henry teached me new word called "cantik" which means beautiful. I probably used that word too much that evening, but you got to use it in order to remember it so...

We also went to nice restaurant that was full of people and Henry ordered us some ribs and rice with some sambal once again, it was good restaurant and meat was very tender and came right off the bone.

We also took a ride to Dago later that evening and went to place called Skyline Best View Resto, that place was unreal.. Views were just insane there, reminded me Los Angeles pictures I've seen.

After living in Indonesia since 1993 it makes me laugh (in a good way) when visitors come here and are brave to try local food etc. it reminds me of how foreign things were when I first came to Indonesia. Now it's just daily life for me. It's so much easier now for tourists. One feels a bit like a duck out of water but it great to see you trying stuff. I sincerely hope you enjoy your stay in Indonesia. Probably not a good idea to yell out at people in public, it kind of makes it okay for them to do it to us. Creates a bit of a burden for those of us who live here. But as Indonesians like to say "up to you".😂
