@36:55 THANK YOU!!!! Thank you so much for saying this. When people question why I don't care to cater to the short attention span audience with short form content I tell them that I don't want that audience. I want the loyal audience who will stick around and give me their attention and in return I give them as much value as I can.

Totally true about acknowledgment- I had two big YouTubers drop into my comments and say something nice about my video. Definitely a day booster!

I have made some pokemon content on another account and I remember finding this guy on youtube and was in awe of HOW DAMN GOOD his videos were. I followed him, not for my interest in pokemon, but just to study and learn from his expertise. This guy is a BEAST. It makes sense now that hes been doing this youtube stuff for a long time LOL. It absolutely shows. He had this style that was wholesome, entertaining, felt unique without overcomplicating things, and he had multiple threads of entertainment going on in one video. Just truly masterful...

Wow!! Had no idea Pat went on to create a pokemon card channel...which is too much better than his original content (in which I loved!) Goes to show there's an audience for everything, even if you think it's silly.

This is an amazing discussion. We happen to be big fans of Pat in my house. My son is into collecting Pokemon cards, so he enjoys the Deep Pocket Monster channel, and I've been really compelled by what Pat has done building that channel. I recently read Superfans (for the first time). You can see exactly how Pat applied what he outlined in that book to build that channel in every action they take on that channel. It's really inspiring and a great example to follow if you're trying to build and serve a community.

Fantastic interview! I'd heard of Pat from his SPI work and various presentations, and he's really knocking it out of the park with Deep Pocket Monster. I'm not a huge Pokémon fan (was older when the phenomenon began), but once I start watching one of his Pokémon videos, I find it hard to tear myself away. That Lego card shaker was a thing of beauty!

I'm extremely fascinated by what you said Roberto at the end: becoming the MrBeast of your own niche. It's something that gets my mind turning. For me it's fascinating to consider what pivots I would need to take with my own content to achieve dynamic growth and to build my own community of superfans.

I really like the vibe in this video! I've been following pat and Blake for a few years now. This is really what we want to vcreate super fans and really make a difference in viewership. I hope to get to this level. It seems more rewarding than just having a few viral videos.

Thank you!

Fantastic stuff. So...my channel is growing super fast and I am just letting my community guide me where I need to go. I am making this for them and I will give them whatever they want. I think you have to always put them first and keep on experimenting and connecting with them. I love how Roberto dishes out the hard truth about being a full-time creator. The only way there is working harder than everyone else and never stopping. Onward and upward we go.

Content creation comes in many forms and so many subjects you can talk about and make this happen .. this is awesome!

i would love to see how some of these things can apply to a cooking channel. i think the suggestion of getting 1000 superfans can work for anyone. im still working on that even though i know i have a few. they ready to buy anything i put out and make a great supportive community. i want to do more than get a bunch of subs. i really want to know how to further grow my community so that it doesnt matter what the algorithm does.
