Mathematical modeling of vector-borne neglected tropicaldiseases: an interdisciplinary overview
Показать описание
Octava exposición del Séptimo Seminario de Divulgación Matemática, a cargo del grupo estudiantil de Matemática (GEM) de la Universidad Nacional de Ingeniería.
Fecha: 24 de junio del 2021.
Expositora:
PhD. Rocío Caja R. - University of South Florida
Resumen de la charla:
In this presentation, I will discuss the importance and the positive impact of modeling some vector-borne neglected tropical diseases. Also, I will illustrate how to reply to epidemiological and ecological questions by using different mathematical models. Epidemiological and ecological factors play important roles in the control of the spread of these vector-borne diseases. These types of diseases raise significant concern in public health, veterinary health and ecological health in bio-diverse worldwide environments. Finally, I will discuss my experience as an applied mathematician working with the NTD Modelling Consortium, an interdisciplinary group of scientists.
