OK boys and girls, I have something to say about this D & J. Prologue: I am a devout listener since Episode One and I often comment about the Dennis Prager / Julie Hartman insights and profundities. But, today's comment is not about D & J content; it is a pure Julie Hartman Gush Fest.

Today's episode cements her as a genuinely sweet, smart, articulate and pretty young woman with a smooth, soothing voice and a great vibe. Julie, I hope your Mrs Years are filled with travel, love, children and happiness. Thank you for being so cool and for the peace, tranquility and joy you deliver to others (including the Salem Garage parking attendant, the CVS homeless man ... and me).

Bad divorces not only effect the kids of the parents but it effects the grandkids and great grandkids. I’m the child of a bad divorce, my mom and Dad coming to my kids graduations, marriages and births was stressful to everyone.

You may be right that the children whose parents were divorced were more mature, but I wonder how much childhood did they miss out on because they were forced to mature before their time? What developmental steps did they miss out on?

Mrs. is still in use! I teach at a public school and every married teacher is addressed as "Mrs.".

Another aspect to women not taking on last name of husband is usually the children get the last name of the father and then the mother has a different last name from their children which is strange.

Here in Australia we are given a choice on forms etc Mrs, Ms, Miss. When my divorce came through there was no way on earth I wanted to be called Mrs anymore, it was repellent!! But I did not want to be called Miss as I had two children in their late teens & so I chose Ms & so on all my forms I have chosen the Ms box. Once not long ago I had a letter addressed to me & it made me feel sick as I do not consider myself as married & my marriage was a disaster!! I also didn't want to go back to my maiden name as I had two children who were known by their father's surname & I prefer his surname than mine anyway, so I have no Issue using it.

On the other hand, if there's a divorce, it's understandable that the woman would not want to continue with the husband's last name, especially if the husband became abusive.

This past week marked the 23rd anniversary of the most horrific day of the 21st century in the United States and that was 9/11. It is has always been a sad day of reflection and commemoration. But in recent years, even more so because the country has become more divided than at any time since the 1960s or perhaps even since the Civil War. It has become so polarized to the point that if God forbid another 9/11 type terrorist attack occurred in the United States today, I think that there would be support for the terrorists. Especially among college age youth. Just look at how many on college campuses are sympathetic, if not outright supportive of Hamas post 10/7/23.
