I am by no means a professional but I will help with what I can. In fact this was a learning experience for me as well don't be afraid to try something new!

The gold solution keeps going out of stock I will post a link when I see its available. It may be a bit expensive but it covers allot of stuff!

In this Video I show you how I gold plated at home with easy to find materials. Please do your research of all chemicals and safety before attempting this yourself.

As always do all your own research into any build and do so at your own risk. This video is for entertainment and demonstrating what I did not a how to.

Wow this is such a great tutorial. Really appreciate the use of materials found around the home!! I wanted to gold plate a thick copper button on a british made mechanical vape, now I'm saved from the constant patina and washing off copper smelling fingers every half hour. In all, thank you. You are a Godsend sir.

Cool. I started doing this in Vancouver in 1990 and did the majority of the bike and car dealerships on the mainland and the island as well as a few hundred body shops and customizing shops. I did the first Honda emblems and started BIC Canada off with their mini bics with the gold plated caps. I Also worked with a lot of jewelers and had most of the costume jewelry replating work for the merchants that set up on Robson and Granville streets. Was a fun business and did a lot of cool stuff. Only competition I had was ACME plating. Makes me want to start up again and not sell tis time.

It actually looks complicated, so I moved on.

Wow. You are a DIY king, and even if your wife ever finds out about the missing emblem, I don't see why she would mind.

Nickel will be under the chrome, no need to nickel plate after removing chrome bro. Love the video, simple house hold items

Thank you. I was doing some research into this over the last 20 or so years. I was looking into it again some 10years ago for some jewellery pieces I made. My father and his friend gave me some good advice and I am here again thinking of a simpler and cheaper way, as this will make my pieces pop.
Many thanks for sharing.

I don't see any negatives or positives on the objects your plating. Sorry, I'm just a plumber. This is pretty new to me.

Thanks for the video! I'm a gun builder and I cerakote. So if I want to gold plate a black gun part that is just hardened steel, can I sandblast it, use the nickel strike, then gold plate it? Like for instance a thumb safety or Glock slide? Thanks again!

2:52 Why are you wrapping the cotton pad around the knife? What's it for/do?

A tampon for cleaning? I might add, a new unused out of the package new.. I tried a recycled tampon, I don't suggest a previously owned. Interesting video.

Okay but what did your wife say? 😆 Did she like the emblems? This was a really useful, and hilarious tutorial.

Does this procedure work if I am going to try to gold plate silver too? Great video by the way!

A complete written supply list plus a diagram of your actual set up (not just the general whiteboard one) would be super useful. “And in the other case, we’re connecting this piece of pure zinc” What other case? And you connected the wire to the locking pliers to ‘hold the penny better’ ????

Hi! Thanks for the video. I got a bit confused when you gold plated the stainless steel bullet. You first cleaned it, then nickel and then gold? Or did you skip the nickel step ? Thanks

So you have to strip the chrome down to nicklel to be able to plate the gold? Hmm I might try this. Thanks for the information, awesome video
