Mandar, Agreat Video and a great explaination in the simplest way to pass variable from one mapping/session to another mapping/session. Those who are arguing that it can be done in one single mapping or some better way did not understand the purpose of this video. I salute you for making mapping variables so simple. I've been working in informatica on and off and never found any help better than this. Kudos, you are the few of the people on which many of us survive in our jobs. Thank you a lot !! :)

A great explanation done so neatly within 20 minutes. If I come across any such scenario in future, definitle i  wil be able to build this but cannot do it in 20 minutes !!! Thank you very much. Everything was perfecct

Please take care your Key Board noise that divert attention to the discouraging interest. Great tutorial explanation for the beginning of informatica training.

Indeed a very good explanation!
However, I would want to point out one issue (which I think is not covered here)

Problem: The value of mapping variable do not get updated in subsequent run of workflow.
i.e if in the first run, the value assigned to the mapping variable was 5, even the next run will have the same value!

The solution is to:
1) Create a workflow variable with value ' ' (null)
2) Assign that value in Session1's section.

Hope this helps others who face the same issue.

Thanks. Nicely explained. When I am running the workflow. All records from source is going to second table and first table is remain empty. How to debug this workflow?

hi, indeed nice explanation.but i have one question.what will happen when load will run 2nd time.
nextval will always greater than count.so it will load only one table.
i have solution for this.
i was thinking can we reset the nextval value set as zero after load complete.
may be this could be a solution.

The value in mapping variable is persistent and doesn't change for the next run if the source rows are changed, can you please add some info on that. Like how to reset the persistent mapping variable for each run

Great Video!!
I am new to informatica. One thing I need to know in this video is "In this example where did we specify the Target Table name (i.e.) Mapping_Raw ?"
Thanks,
Nilesh

Yes.. right.but I was just trying to explain how to pass value of one mapping variable in one session to another mapping variable in separate session

Is there anyway to store the last run date in Parameter only when Work flow ran successfully variable so that we can use this parameter variable on next run

I think 2nd mapping variable creation step is missed in this video ... could you please tell if that is created in 1st or 2nd mapping and what value is assigned during creation

very very good explaination.
but how o pass value between RESUABLE SESSIONS.

Hi,
I am trying to implement the explained scenario. For me in the session the components tab the post session success on variable assignment is disabled and only the none option is coming instead of non- reusable. Is there any solution is present for my case?

Hi Mandar,

Nice video i have tried and i have a question. From my knowledge, mapping variable will not store the value twice i.e. if you take this eg in 1st run the count is 27, next run the count is 28 bt in the 3rd run if the count is again 27 then it will not 27 as a count, please correct me if i am wrong.mapping variables are perfect i guess for CDC.
Would love to hear your reply on this.

Regards,
Vinit

Hi Suresh,

Thanks for reply. I never tried his, but will definitely give a try.

Thanks Again,

its a good video...but consider the scenario in which the source file is empty in that case i should be getting the rowcount as 0 in such case nothing must get loaded into my targets but an aggregator cant read anything if the source is empty so rowcount would never be 0..this implementation willl fail in that case....in short try to implement the same for the empty file..or check before the session if the file is empty or not if empty found then dont run the session
