Turnigy Evolution Review

This Turnigy Evolution transmitter could quite possible be my new favorite. Between it only costing roughly $70, the receivers are cheap and work well, feels great, have better control of sticks, a simple and easy to use menu, good gimbals, and much more, I'm extremely happy with it.

Both of these receivers are also compatible with the Evolution -

Thanks for the quick video! Just got mine today too. Set it all up and looking forward to giving it a whirl.

An advantage of choosing white, instead of black colour, you can use a sharpie to write yourself reminder notes on the flat inside of the cover. I write in my switch settings from betaflight, my VTx channel, what time's my next hair appointment, etc.
And great video, thanks! I learned a few things and I've been using the evolution for several months now.

Great review. I didn't like the stiff throttle either, which I'm pleased to say is a very easy fix. Open it up and just adjust the two relevant spring tension screws. This softened the throttle off completely which is how I like it whilst maintaining the exact same spring strength in yaw. Perfect.

Thanks for the review! Highly considering this for my first build.
Also, thanks for your service! Appreciated most of all!

Just received mine this morning :) it's a nice little radio, which feels like an xbox controller (in a good way), so coming from a gamer background, I'm really digging it! Guess my other radios will be staying in their cases for quite a while!

Hi JC & other follow quad fliers,
Cant say enough how much your
videos helped me with my first build!!!! You ended up having a play list
for every major component that i needed help with, made things so much
smoother and saved me from having to go to any RC forums and wade
through the mess, for real you should have 3 times as many subs with the
top notch videos you put out, full dedication shows in your video with
how detailed they are and how often you update them, keep it up or the
multi-rotor world will suffer.
So did any one else find that the
Turnigy Evolution & or the TGY-IA6C causing problems with FPV RX. my
video feed is perfect until i turn on the Evolution, then i get
horizontal lines sweeping from top to bottom of the screen and it
intermittently cuts out&in for about 1/4 a second, the whole quad
is powered, video is perfect, i then turn on the Evolution and it goes
to shit?? VTX & receiver antennas are about 5 apart.

Hi, 8:17 in the firmware on my unit, you *can* see the exact voltages of transmitter and receiver battery by using the "swipe" action on the touchscreen. This was not at all obvious and it took me a while to figure out.

Nice review, but watch your failsafe! You have to set it on the TX. Also check out the X6B receiver. It is superior as it has removable antennae and is more compact.

Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge with us . I don't know if you remember me but, you've helped me out before with other stuff you reviewed on your channel . Am really looking for another radio besides my dx8 .going to watch all your evolution playlist

26 UK pounds now. Bought two and now using it instead of my Taranis X9D SE. Never looked back (although now looking at NV14 ;). Thanks for the review, mate. Yes, writing this in 2019.

Quick question, maybe you could give me an idea to solve this...so I had my brand new Evolution setup and working while waiting for a replacement esc in the mail. Running through cleanflight, and also working with a simulator. After replacing the esc and getting everything setup, now the Roll and Pitch channels are stuck at 2000 in the receiver tab of cleanflight. Quad doesn't respond properly either, it will arm and motors will spin, but other than that I have no control. I tried rebinding, I tried restoring the Turnigy to factory settings...nothing worked so far.

Great review. I just received mine in the post & it feels great!
I'm finding the control sticks a bit long for comfortable reach (I must have short thumbs!)
Do they sell compatible control sticks that are shorter than the stock ones? - also any that don't have the sharp ends? (I find the non slip a bit sharp for thumbing?).
Thanks for all you videos. You've got some great content that is super useful!!!

I've got a chopped finger that says Simon Wallace is right. If you don't set the failsafe on the evolution, then the flight controller won't know you've lost reception. And be sure to set Tx failsafe to -100% for throttle, not 0%, as I did. And be sure to test it - AFTER you take props off, as I didn't. Hence chopped fingers.

I really love this on the Liftoff simulator. I was never able to get my RadioLink to feel close to real flying. Now I feel like I can put in meaningful stick time every day. I only get to fly on the weekends. What! was that a plug for Hobby King? LOL . Thanks JC.

Hey, I'm interested in buying the receiver because of it's size and I plan on using it for my first build. Can you give me a rundown on what receivers I can use with this without much issues. I plan to get a 5" drone with a Spedix IS30 2S-4S 4 in 1 esc and CL racing F4S FC.
