Best tone for gunbarrel sequence of any James Bond movie and has the flavour of all the James Bond legends, Sean Connery, Roger Moore and Pierce Brosnan.

British director lewis gilbert directed the three most outrageous James bond movies in series, you only live twice the spy who loved me and Moonraker, gilbert was known for directing epic battle scenes and featuring interesting characters in his movies

The opening of the tenth 007 film, "THE SPY WHO LOVED ME" featured a new gunbarrel opening by who else, the James Bond playing, Roger Moore, dressed in his bow-tied evening suit.

Lewis Gilbert said in an interview, at the time of “Moonraker, ” that between character and spectacle, he chose the latter. According to him, there wasn’t much you could say about James Bond after (then) 14 films. The results were two “walking through” performances by Roger Moore and a “sleepwalking” one by Sean Connery. Very different approach from Terence Young. Peter Hunt could handle both!

Regarding character, “Licence To Kill, ” “Goldeneye, ” “Casino Royale, ” and “Skyfall” proved Gilbert wrong!
