INFJ vs INFP personality differences - the INFJ personality and INFP personality have no cognitive functions in common. Of the 16 personalities, these two mbti types are considered some of the most emotionally deep. If you're unsure of the differences INFJ vs INFP, keep watching ✌️

Edit from 2 years after this video was posted for Ti users ;)
Any time I say a behavioral example of how a type shows up like "I tend to notice a lot of ISTJs with fitbits" this is to ground the theoretical concept for viewers who have repeatedly asked me to give behavioral examples and to make content less abstract and confusing. However, any time I stray from motives and transfer to behavior, it will lose universal application. Any time I give an example like this it is not an absolute, it is not a rule, that behavior is not exclusive to that type, that behavior is not the exclusive manifestation of a type's motives, not everyone or even most of the type might do that thing; but it is simply a one-time example of how the motivations that ISTJs share could manifest - not how they must manifest.
In addition, different motivations aside from Si-Te motivations could also prompt someone to get a fitbit, so this behavior alone cannot be used to type someone. In my day to day life, I do not see people with a fitbit and therefore declare them an ISTJ. Any example I give did not come from inductive reasoning which gets applied universally like "I saw 3 ISTJs who wear fitbits therefore all ISTJs have fitbits." In addition these examples can be backed up deductively with Carl Jung's and Van Der Hoop's writing like "Si is finely attuned to sense organs"; "Te likes outcomes and metrics" "therefore an example could be, but is not limited to, ISTJs wearing fitbits, especially when used to measure sense organs."
I have been working on Ti and thus curbing misunderstandings on this front, but in case I say something contrary to this belief, it was due to sloppy Te langauge (or it was a non-serious joke) and not because I believe differently. This series in particular has a lot of sloppy language so this message is getting copy and pasted to all these videos lol.

I took many online mbti tests. Some gave me INFP and some gave me INFJ. That made me watch several comparing INFP and INFJ videos, but didn’t find a clear indication which shows I am which one of those cuz I have many things related to both of types equally. Until I found a video about "can u have 2 mbti personalities if u have something related to more than 1 type?" The answer is no and ur type cannot be changed cuz u were born with it. The reason why u feel u r related to more than 1 type is u grow up and some of ur cognitive function have developed. I totally agree with that cuz I always feel like I’m infp with more punctual, planning and organizing version cuz I am always taught by my family to organize everything carefully and professionally, but when I was a kid I was not good at organizing things at all. That makes many mbti tests mistyped me as INFJ. Another thing that makes me even more sure that I am INFP is the names of both personalities "mediator" and "counselor" What both personalities have in common is they like helping people especially by listening to their problems and help them figure out what to do. I realized that when people tell me their problems, I always say something to make them feel better, cheer them up and make them understand themselves more about what they want then suggest them multiple options of what they should do. That’s what mediators do. While INFJ people will give clear a advice and come up with a specific solution. That’s why they’re called counselors.

Synergy between these two types can be as deep as the ocean. Making great friendships/relationships.

INFJs use "directive commands, " like "Get the baby!"
Whereas the INFP will use a more subtle informative remark, like "You might want to look at Herbert."

The Si vs Se is on point. My sister is INFJ and she is a clean freak, constantly purging and owning so few things, like literally the bare minimum. On the other hand, as an INFP, I have so much stuff. I am regularly throwing away stuff too, but I still have so many things (not necessarily memorabilia but often things related to things I tried/my hobbies/random crap). Also, yeah, I have a junk food problem and I don't care about trends at all (why should I? I'm trying to be me, not to follow someone's idea of how I should look like). Great video!

The random crap isn't random. For me as an INFP, each item has an emotional connection for me. It's one way I remember experiences and connect with the external world with my emotion. This is a great video with some great examples that should help INFPs and INFJs distinguish which type they are. Thanks!

I'm an INFP-A and one of my very best
friends is an INFJ-T. We compliment each
other perfectly. We have never had a
cross word between us and respect and
love each other deeply. Learning about
the MBTI has honestly changed my life
.... I now know and understand who I am
and am urging my other family and
friends to find out their personality type
too. I believe this will be beneficial to us
all and result not only in more
harmonious relationships but a greater
understanding of who we all are and how
we all see the world. This naturally will
lead to a better understanding of who we
turn to in times of need. You want a
shoulder to cry on ? Go to X, you want
advice on a more practical problem go to
Y. You struggle to understand someone,
know their MBTI and it becomes clear to
you how they think and view the world.
End result ? Family, friends and loved
ones gaining a better understanding of
our individualities and gaining a
wonderful, supportive and harmonious
future together. Love, hugs and peace to you all, ❤️🤗✌️

I love this video! INFP here, my whole life I had never really had friends who I felt like really understood me until a few years ago. The five of us formed a strong bond so quickly and I asked all of them their personality types and we’re 2 INFPs and 3 INFJs!! The bond and understanding we have with each other is so special and unique, and now I know why :)

This was hilarious for us to watch, thank you! My husband and I are both in our 50s and after years of heartbreak and trials, once we found each other, both our worlds really took off for the better.

I’m a female INFJ and my husband is an INFP (we both took the quiz a few times at different times just to double check).

We really do have an almost unfathomable, almost other worldly relationship that friends have said they want a relationship like ours and the depths that it goes. But I truly believe this is only possible when you have two people willing to go into their own personal depths to identify their own traumas and work on healing them.

We have a strange dynamic, even though we are always together, we are always separate and very independent. An example would be, especially from lockdowns during the pandemic, we could spend the entire day working next to each other, barely speaking and completely focused on our tasks, yet feel comforted just being in each other’s energy.

We also have a daughter who’s 20 and is an ISTP. We had a really interesting conversation about our family dynamic when we’re out in public and realized we actually have a protective system built on how we interact with the world.

Example: me, the INFJ (when I’m rested and full of energy) will initiate conversations with strangers or strangers will speak to me, probably because of my friendly tone and persona - which FYI, we ALL cracked up when you did your impression of how an INFJ greets people! My daughter said, OMG mom, that’s SOOO you!)

My husband, the INFP, will watch and listen, occasionally interjecting and then stepping back to observe as I take his topic and run with it.

Our daughter, the ISTP will stay completely silent, usually right near dad (he’s definitely the strong silent type) and only speak minimally when directly asked a question, unless she knows and is comfortable with the person.

Very interesting! Thank you ☺️

My mom is an INFJ, and I'm an INFP. You described us both perfectly, even the example interactions between the two.

How the heck do you know so much?!?! It's amazing how quickly you switch back and forth between such similar personalities.

This is great for a general breakthrough of functions. I didn't like the stereotypes. But it's great for a summary of what type are *generally* like. It's also pleasant to watch these vids for some reason. I don't know what it is, but they are satisfying.

Most tests I've done have came out as INFJ but then others as INFP, I feel almost like I have in equal measure both types you describe. Even as a teenager I went through a gothic phase and then a hippy phase. My personal appearance used to be more flamboyant when I was younger and as I've grown older has become more minimal and very toned down. Having said that I'm an artist with many passions but even though my house is full of paintings, books, musical instruments, everything is super tidy, no hoarding at all just what I need for my creative work. When I deal with other people's emotions I'm always mothering them and asking why but when I deal with myself and my emotions I always ask what if and get lost in the multiple option path. If you're my guest I will ensure that you're feeling loved, pampered and catered for. I know you can't be both. So... I'm still confused as to which one I am and then developed characteristics of the other over the years and why did that happened.

Ok, that's settled. I'm an INFP like the quizzes say. Thanks for this clear video.

I’ve taken several tests over the years and I’ve always either gotten INFJ or INFP. And more recently I’ve been thinking that I’m actually INFJ. But after watching this video I feel like I might be an INFP who has trauma from childhood that makes me seem like an INFJ. I can be very concerned with the group and how everyone’s feeling and making sure everyone’s okay, but when I’m around people who I know I don’t have to impress I really just go with the flow. And when I’m by myself I’m much more concerned with my own inner feelings than how other people might be feeling. Makes me think I’m an INFP with people pleasing issues lol. I’m also not really concerned with trends and have trouble committing to one thing because I’m like ooo what if I did that or ooo that might be cool to do and get so caught up in the possibilities that I end up doing nothing lol

Thanks that was very clear. I was bit confused about what's the difference between these two. Now I get it. I'm definitely INFP But wouldn't say I was into being bizarre. I did do substances when I was young, but gave all that up decades ago, due to my idealistic goals about myself the sort of person I wanted to be. So many things you said made the differences clear. So thanks for that! Good job done!

SPOT ON! I test INFJ my sweetie tested INFP. This is the MOST spot on video description of differences... We do overlap, but yep, this is spot on❤!

Great video. Fe in an infj doesn't focus on the group, it focuses outward on others feelings on an individual level.
But that's just my two cents.
