Hello friends in this video I have made a heavy duty CNC router using NEMA23 stepper motor with GRBL firmware and custom PCB shield.

I have used 10mm MS laser cut frame to build this CNC router it also have 500W spindle.

it needs another piece of 2040 in the middle under the bed to tie it all together and to stop any push down above, on my version of this I have a piece of 8mm tapped aluminium for this bed and that is screwed down into the extrusion in on all 4 sides, its as rigid as it can gets now, finally it needs a brace across the two X axis 2040 extrusions, doing that makes X and Z very rigid. I used a piece of stainless steel that I had for this at 3mm thick. It makes a big difference now.

Once final thing is I have the entire machine bolted down on a large desk which is heavy and has a thick counter on it made of a piece of granite. I then built a full enclosure which goes over it and keeps the noise down by about 30% and because I use a 1.5 kw VFD water spindle it is loud but very fast and accurate, mine also has ball screws rather than lead screws. its worth the extra cost which is not that much to be honest and helps to reduce backlash by quite a bit.

My extrusion is bolted together rather than using corners which are fairly useless, simply drill through, counter bore and tap the end of the other piece with M5 allen heads. If you look closely in the video this was put together for speed of the video and most bolts and screws are missing. There are also some steps missing, you do not need to use the controller tin this video, any small grbl controller will work but you might need driver amplifiers.

Man, that's a beautiful build, even the way you've set up the electronics, with everything clean and tidy. That's what I call a perfectionist's build.

This is probably one of the best DIY CNC builds I've seen. Neat and tidy. Well done!!! Great work!!!

perfect beginner cnc build have arduino+grbl+nema23 470 oz/3Nm+ DM 556 drivers. and 800W air cooler ER16 spindle. if want cheap and easy and good first cnc build. better use MGN 15 or SBR 16 linear rails. very cheap set.

Great job, very professional wire routing with the din rail connector points. I had extected to see some din rail breakers for the stepper drivers but maybe they've got them built in.

1:22 ah .. but where did you get those crucial parts? And what material are they made of? Looks like "someone" made those steel brackets beforehand?

Nice video...Sir please make a video on higher/improved performance CNC machine something like laser cutting.. I mean all the mechanical parts should be easily available in market and there shouldn't be no 3D parts ( not everyone can make 3d parts, so implementations by viewers will be tough without all parts).

Bellissima idea, un po meno i pezzi stampati in 3D, complimenti per il progetto..👍

What was the Raspberry pi for in the box it was not attached to anything??

I suspose at some point you went back and aligned/squared everything? Not sure how or maybe I just missed it but you have no alignment or dowels to even remotley have accuracy. But If thats not what your going for. I guess it works.

Congratulations, it is a spectacular project. Could it cut metal pieces? At least light metal like aluminum? What other types of materials could it cut?. Regards.

Really nice design well done - may I make a suggestion for even better rigidity? The rigidity in the X travel could be greatly improved by putting a web between the upper and lower black extrusions atm the gantry can flex creating a parallelogram shape

Huh ? Do we really need that big control box ?, itsnt it just enough to have a microcontroller and supply for it cnc shield and motor drivers for motors ?

That's a great build. What extrusion are you using for the base, 2080 and 2060?

Great Content - what is the thickness of the steel laser cut parts?

Great work. That's what I want. A Z- axis built like this. Going to do it soon.
