CRASHED! My new Tesla Model Y is only 1 week old 🤦‍♂️. Sentry dash cam footage.

Just one week old!
7 days after collecting my new Model Y it’s been damaged after my neighbour reversed his car straight into it. I cannot believe it!

The force was hard enough to push it backwards into the car behind me.

Luckily captured on Sentry Dash Cam (standard on a new Tesla) it shows the whole incident. Vital for the insurance companies…

It’s one of the most unique and fantastic features of a Tesla having the standard dash camera integration with recording both when you are with and away from the vehicle.

Anyway see the footage and damage here, then my temporary repair…!

How frustrating. The DVLA needs to take action. It’s sad but necessary for the safety of himself and other road users.

So glad I got my mum to give up her licence before she had an accident, I suggest that anyone with an elderly relative gets them to take them for a ride so they can assess their driving. It’s a difficult conversation to have to tell someone they may no longer be a safe driver but I know so many elderly drivers that have accidents and only then stop driving.

Hi Richard. Sad to hear of this. Please don't underestimate the damage. Cars nowadays are built for ease of assembly not for repair. Don't be surprised if headlight tabs, grills and brackets with snap together parts have broken - otherwise perfectly serviceable. Good luck with the repair.

It happened to me while going on holiday... As you could imagine the holiday was spent trying not to think about/look at my damaged car ...
Glad no one was hurt, looking forward to some great content with the Y.

A similar thing happened to me outside my house with my model 3, in that a transit van reversed into the rear bumper. After researching all the Tesla approved body shops, I took mine to the Tesla’s own repair centre in Dartford (just down off the bridge). I can honestly say they did a wonderful job and it looked as new as the first day I picked it up 2 years ago.

I would be livid too! I watch too much wham bamm and see very new Teslas getting damaged a lot. Trying to keep mine safe. Eyes on stalks when driving. Hope you get it sorted 👍

Car repairs these days can quickly add up, and with tech every where around this car, I wouldn’t be surprised to know what looks minor could be rather expensive. But that’s the purpose of insurance, right?

Ouch! I really feel for you. My Model Y had about 900 miles on it. I was sitting in it with cars in front and behind me while I had to watch, while honking my horn, as a truck backed out of a diagonal parking space right into my right rear passenger door. Luckily it hit just the door and didn't touch anything in front or behind it or the panel below.

I hope you don't have too much trouble with insurance and getting parts in the UK.

Ouch, the wing misalignment could be costly. I prefered the days of more resilient black bumpers. Small bumps didn't show and even damage to the bumper could be swapped out, no paint involved.

I drove mine into a parking space blocking thing and ripped up the back skirt in the second week so I feel you mate!

Oh man - heartbreaking! So sorry but you seem to have seen the positives and no doubt she will be back to glory soon! Nice temporary fix too! Always hesitant of making it more presentable in case the insurance company accessors need to see the damage, however I guess when they take the bumper off they will be always be able to see if any framework is damaged.
