"General baseline of aggressive detachment"

Best explanation of New York I've ever heard. No one gives a fuck here.

every video you get a reminder on how skilled Adam is... in this one he proceeds to pick a bass with a bazzilion strings and play it like " oh it is just a 10 strings bass, no big deal"

Glad you made it to NAMM. It was really neat to have met you (right after you concluded your interview with Jeff). I can't wait for all the stuff you've got planned for this channel.

"Who gets inspired by Disney land at 45 years old?"

Buckethead, Buckethead gets inspired by Dinsey Land and it's awesome.

Keep up with the awesome blogs, Adam!

I'm really glad you got some footage of SVS Designs and that huge bass, the guy behind it is a friend of mine and sadly I've seen no other footage of his instruments this year.

Interesting and informative, as always. I liked that how you compared NY and LA scenes in the end without worrying about the criticism you might face.

Much gratitude for showing off something like this - I can never get out to any of these sorts of things, and it's great to see.

Also, righteous camera work and editing. This vid coulda gone on for an hour and I'd be glued. Along with that interview, hoping for any cool extended scenes and whatnot in a follow up, I can't imagine what had to be cut for time. Either way, props and thanks.

Damn! Mononeon is probably one of the most interesting bass players I've ever seen. Seems like a cool place full of cool musicians.

and I know I'm commenting way too much, but... the cold evaluative social vibe you describe getting from LA is the same impression I feel in any environment geared explicitly towards "networking" (including events I've attended in New York); I once had a great discussion about how the modern, formalized notion of networking is completely out of sync with the Kantian idea of trying to treat people as ends in themselves. instead, it immediately attributes value based on people as means (i.e., what can I get out of this person/how will interacting with them benefit me). this is why I think the question you answered (I think it was last week) about being an introvert in music is an important one. an example: the way Robert "Bubby" Lewis describes getting his start through Andrew Gouche, it seems like he showed that he could play and was a solid, responsible guy who would show up on time and be pleasant to be around, which is what I think musicians mean when they say to try to be a "good hang." as far as I know, it wasn't like he was approaching the situation in almost predatory way, thinking what Gouche could do for him, which is the feeling a lot of networking environments give off

hey adam. awesome channel. im argentinian and have been following you for a while. i studied to be a guitarrist learning argentinian traditional folk music and tango, but a year ago i developed a wrist injury for too much practicing. i quit music all together, as it is been a year and still have my ganglion cyst not planning to re absorbe any time soon. this made my life miserable for the time being and still gets me every time i hear the music pieces i used to play.
maybe it would be awesome if you cover some aspects regarding time practice, finding the right instrument for your physiognomy and alternative mechanic and technic for the young musicians out there.
hope you have a lot of succes. you deserve it bro. keep it up. Santiago

22 Years Ago, I went to MI in LA and My main teacher was Jeff Berlin, His method of teaching was different, It took me a few weeks to understand his approach. He was Great as a Teacher and as a Person. Once, he did invite me to a gig he was playing, I
got there in the middle of a song, after he finish play the song, he reach the microphone from the stage and he said "Hi Rafael I am glad you made it" I was only 21 years old average bass player.. Not a lot of people at his level take the time to say Hi, especially when you are "nobody" .. Other great guys in LA back then. Marco Mendoza, Oskar Cartaya, and Todd Johnson.
