I think it’s just how policy is written which hurts the lower income areas

Good idea but how do you keep the government from gradually chipping away at the money coming in from the tax? How much more will it cost the government to track consumption, evaluate the appropriate distribution and send out the payments (Which will be a good excuse for governments to reduce the payouts)? Lastly, what about the tax that the petrol company, the transportation company, the station owner all pay for their own emissions that they will pass on to the final consumer?

Or invest the tax in services which replace the carbon intensive ones.

The carbon tax is and will be a hinder to economic growth. A country that competes on a world stage loses any edge it might have. Any notion the government will send you money is a dream. The cost of any product like food is already moving rapidly upward. Countries that buy from us will just get the raw product and process it themselves.

We should get carbon tax in the U.S. It would help the world, and stop global warming.

But people like pay more tax. It reduces their guilt even without adding benefit from other sources.

Either I'm missing something or this idea is incredibly stupid. The whole point of a carbon tax is to squeeze people enough that they emit less carbon. If you then give them the money back, they would be able to maintain the same standard of living as before. It's almost like you're loaning money to the government at the petrol station before getting it back at the end of the month and I wonder how many bureaucrats that will cost...

How about a carbon tax, that can charge you dollar for breathing out carbon. That would be a fair option.

France carbon emissions versus China's or Latin American countries is ridiculously insignificant. Instead of taxing your citizens, focus on the biggest polluters in the world. The problem is countries like France and Canada love to virtue signal but don't have the guts or backbone to pose sanctions or trade conditions with polluting countries

This video creator should hide in shame for.this propaganda.

But if there will be "carbon paycheck" people will receive every month, won't that also encourage them to keep carbon? 😅

Unfortunately again, the industries which contribute the most to the problem get penalized the least. Also, a poor family receiving a carbon reduction rebate is unlikely to change consuming habits. Government must account for more industry responsibility.

The tax should be invested in renewable energy generation and carbon capture and storage system, instead of paying people to use more fossil fuel to enjoy their lives.

In Australia when we implemented the carbon tax we reduced taxes for the poorest substantially. This didn't prevent them from buying the right-wing's argument that climate action was costing living standards. Sure enough, the right came back into power, repealed the carbon tax and have overseen six years of climate vandalism. We must dispense with the idea of a carbon tax altogether; it's framing of living standards vs climate action cannot be shaken away even by rebates. We must adopt the approach of a Green New Deal that taxes the wealthy to fund clime action. More importantly, only the government, not market mechanisms, can provide the rapid change we need.

I'm guessing that there are high amount of dislikes for this video because people have opposing opinions? I thought the quality of the vid was great.
I don't understand why people are so against the inevitability of electric motors dominating the transport sector, hell, even if you don't like the fact that in the future there wont be a market for exhausts which enables your Micra to sound like a Harley motorcycle, do yourself and your family a favour and embrace the future and see the prospective returns you could make from investing in some of the potential market leading Blue-chips.
One more thing, have you seen Zero Motorcycles? The future baby; I cant wait.
