toepick was actually first mentioned in the episode ken 10 of the first series, so it's also a callback to that. we still never got to see shellhead or sandbox though. or my favorite one, ventrillosquid.

Toepick is probably one of my favourite aliens just because of his concept. He has no fighting capabilities but he doesn't need to since he can just look ate someone and they're completely incapacitated

Unless you just have an immunity to fear. He will win. He can show people stuff so terrifying even people who don’t have fears lose the will to fight

Toe pick was teased in the first series during the ken 10 episode In season 4. When I first heard of him I looked him up but he wasn't released yet. It's cool that they foreshadowed him way back then

Toepick is hands down one of the most powerful aliens in Ben 10s arsenal.

Regardless of how powerful a villain is, he can conjure something they are afraid of.

I think of it more as a reference to Lovecraft. Toe Pick doesn't change what he looks like or causes anything to see something that isn't there. He is simply so grotesque and incomprehensible that it scares the fight out of everyone. It usually would cause you to go insane, but this is a young adult's show. It doesn't work on Alien X because he himself is like an Eldritch being in his own rite. He is like an Old One. He knows all, can do all, so there is nothing out there 5hat surprises him. More evidence that it is some sort of Lovecraftian mutation is that they even scare themselves. They are sane and unafraid/unconscious of what they are until they gaze upon themselves.

Kinda prefer the ink tank's take on it in 5yl where Teretinal ogres (toepick's species) have a face like a demigorgon from stranger things and when they open it up they release a fear gas which works like scarecrow's from batman.

Fun fact in the Ben 10 original series we see future Ben son ken 10 who name dropped toepics when he got his first omnitrix

For the record, Toe Pick was first mentioned as something of a throwaway in the Ken 10 special episode featuring Ben 10, 000’s son. In that episode, Ken is given his own Omnitrix but it’s limited down to 10 aliens that 10k considers safe practice aliens for his son to learn how to use the Omnitrix effectively with, and Toe Pick is one of them. But Ken asks to swap him out for Grey Matter because “Toe Pick grosses even me out”. Having Grey Matter winds up being integral to the episode’s plot as Ken is able to use him to hack the Omnitrix later in the episode, but the point of Toepick being gross and or unsettling was key to Ken getting Grey Matter.

This interaction left fans begging to have Ben eventually unlock and use Toe Pick, so he eventually came up in Omniverse. But with a reputation of being gross and or creepy, they had to do something kinda weird to live up to that hype.

Z'scare's arch is one of the most terrifying and haunting parts of the OG Ben 10. Like, Ghost Freaked Out will always be a memorable episode of Ben 10.
