Tornado rips roof off elementary school

A drone captured this footage of the extensive damage done to an elementary school in Missouri after it was hit by a tornado.

Most of those roofs are corrigated sheetmetal screwed into steel joists and then covered with sheet foam & rubber..

probably help if they used 1/4" thick steel plate and actually welded it to the joists..

the corrigated metal & the screw fastners are the weak spots... in order for school buildings to function as storm shelters they should probably be constructed using steel reinforced concrete tilt wall construction instead of brick over metal studs... modern brick really serves more as a cosmetic finish than an actual structural product.. might help if they actually ran steel rebar through the brick..

I'm a fan of steel reinforced concrete tilt wall construction because the walls are generally 6" of solid steel reinforced concrete.... and you can decorate the jig to make it appear as brick or stone..

super strong if the panels are welded together properly, great insulation, fairly cost effective... good storm protection... you could at least design the cafeterias like that or the main center structure so that the kids would have better protection from tornadoes and high winds..

new federal law on drones, if the drone is over .55 ounces it must be registered, and if you use the drone for video or photos to make money you must have a full pilots license or you just committed a felony, and yes the FAA has been contacting youtubers in the US who have used drones, because you see if your channel is monetized your making money now on that video with the drone and just committed a crime.
