You should try dulce de leche(milk candy), it's basically condensed milk cooked until it turns brown, it's usually cooked on a pressure cooker with the condensed milk still inside the can

looks like some have already mentioned keeping it in the can to cook. yes, it can be dangerous, but, when done right, it's amazing. the way i do it is place a small folded dish/tea towel on the bottom of a pot. place the unopened can on top of that. fill with enough water to cover the can. bring the water to a low to medium boil. once it statrs to boil leave it for about 15 minutes. then, carefully, flip the can. leave for another 15 minutes or so. keep doing this for roughly an hour. take the can out and let it cool a few minutes before, carefully, opening. then put contents into a bowl. it make an amazing dip or drizzled onto food or into drinks.

My grandma likes to boil sweet condensed milk in metal can, it was a pretty common dessert for soviet people, boiled sweet condensed milk actually has a caramel color and it tastes pretty good to me

In Russia you take a can of the condensed milk, put it in a pot, don't open it ofc, and boil it for like 2 hrs.
Just don't forget to add water occasinally, to keep the water level over the can.
2 hours later, you get the "caramel" condensed milk (sgushyonka).

That is beijinho! Or brigadeiro (if you mix it with cocoa powder). In Brazil is very popular mostly in birthday parties! And if you cook the can of sweetened condensed milk in pressure, you have - what we brazilians call - doce de leite, and the name you probably have heard, dulce de leche!

If you need to add moisture to the air of your home, put water on the stove on a low heat so it steams. My family usually does this during the winter. If we want an easy caramel we turn the heat up to medium high and add a can of condensed milk and let it cook for a while (i can't remember if it's 1.5 hours or 3 hours). Just make sure the can is always covered by water so it cooks evenly

You just made Dulce de Leche/Doce de Leite, it is very popular in Latin America, here in Brazil we make cakes, cookies, ice cream, everything with it!

Did they form into solid cubes? This would be a good opportunity to make Berfi or Khoya (in keeping with the theme). About 20 years ago while visiting Lahore, we formed somewhat of a night time ritual where we would walk to a local market. This man would boil a large cauldron of milk and serve people bowls of it. You could add some ‘khoya’ to it if you liked. There used to be a Nirala store opposite which had a large advert for ‘Rabri’ milk (if I can remember it was 15pkr). For some reason i occasionally remember that, not sure why? 🤔

I did caramel last week with the condensed milk - without the stirring:
U need to make sure the water is covering the can otherwise it could explode.
Just put a generous amount of water and a canned condensed milk in a pressure cooker and boil it and there u have the caramel:)

Here in Russia, Caramel condensed milk is very popular even in Soviet times, we boil a can of condensed milk for 3 hours, the main thing is that the water level is higher than the can, otherwise the canned food can explode, we do with it wafer-nuts, it's a wafer in the shape of a walnut shell with caramel condensed milk inside 😊
