Monsterverse purely for the action and visuals.
Minus One for the storytelling and acting.

I like both
Minus one was essentially a remake of the original while the Legendary movies feel more in line with the Heisei series in that they take themselves relatively seriously but still have some fun/silly stuff here and there

Minus One takes Godzilla back to his roots; what he represents, and focusing on the human element. The human characters are likeable, believable, and you connect to what their going thru.
Shin Godzilla does a similar thing, while making it feel fresh; and a nightmare depiction of Godzilla.
I love the Monsterverse movies, but I do get the problem... As much as I love the monsters, it's the humans that don't leave an impression.
Also, Godzilla Minus One/Minus Color.... Anyone going to see it?

Both are good.
But both have a specific identity.
Monsterverse Godzilla is kind of grounded while also having outlandish elements with the other Kaiju, the environment and world building.
Minus One is completely grounded with the ONLY outlandish element being a giant radiated dinosaur that has an atomic breath.
The monsterverse is not perfect but I enjoy being able to go in, turn my brain off and just watch them fight. It's like watching a showa era schlocky monster mash.

Hey Alteori i love your videos and have been watching you for a while now. I just wanted to give you a little bit of feedback. I think the volume on your outro music is a lot louder than the rest of the video and it feels super loud and almmost jumpscary whenever one of your videos ends. Its not too crazy but I figured I should let you know just for the sake of honest feedback and just in case you feel the same and want to change/adjust it. Thanks!

Will you review Tobe Hooper's Crocodile? I think you'll really like Flatdog.

Monster decay like villain decay happens if a franchise does not take care of itself and it's fans. Even the originals got campy over time. I can remember this one Son of Godzilla movie were become the size of a human kid and became a kid's buddy; I think it turned out to be a dream sequence but still.

Sorry I about posing from a different video of yours here but it went down before I could post there.

Thank You for covering It's Alive, it was my first horror movie I saw in a theater. I think the reason the station wagon's rear window window handle was on the outside was the same reason you could only open the rear door from the outside. It was to keep the kids from pushing each other out the back. There were no real safety standards back then. No seatbelt laws. No drunk driving laws. You could build an apartment with wall heaters that had fully exposed red glowing heating coils and it would be totally ok. That is how I got 2nd scar when I was 5. I will admit it did leave a nice pattern. Now if only I could do as good a job at searing my meat as do at searing my skin. 🥩

I don't Like Millie anymore, for me she have fallen into the same hole as Chloe Grace Moretz, where both had promissing beginnings for their careers, but after they achieved the fame, every single of their roles seems to be that "perfect role for the perfect actress", which most times ends up giving us borring characters (not entirely actresses fault tho) or just straight up bad acting.
Millie in the monsterverse seemed exactly like that "OH LOOK, WE HAVE THE CHICK THAT PLAYED ELEVEN, SO WE ARE GOING TO MAKE HER PLAY ELEVEN AGAIN, BUT WITH GODZILLA. YAY".

To me Godzilla -1 is THE monster he was created to be. An unstoppable force that is set out of destroy while we can barely run.
Monsterverse Godzilla is still a favorite version because of his personality and how he fights. So it's a close tie for me.
But when it comes to the films themselves, definitely -1, I actually cared about the humans.

Yes. Not even close.
Edit - This is an answer to the video title.

The fact that this godzilla is like 164 feet tall yet he felt more menacing is insane

The only character ive mainly cared for in the Monsterverse is Ken Watanabe's Dr. Serizawa and Kyle Chandlers Mark Russell. Both of them are my 2 favourite monsterverse characters

And honestly, i cared much more for Godzilla Minus Ones characters, Koishi Shikishima, Noriko Oishi, Kenji Noda. I absolutely love these characters and Kamiki Ryunosuke (Shikishima actor) is one of my favourite japanese actors now and i really want him to return if they make a sequel

As someone who grew up with Heisei era Goji movies, I love the versus monster mayhem the monsterverse offers. But Minus One is objectively a better movie overall. And thats fine.

I agree that 'Godzilla- Minus One' is a superior film to any 'Monsterverse' G-films... I have been a Godzilla fan since 1973 when I was 6 years old and only the original 'Gojira' from 1954 is a better G-film!

Let's not get toxic on this one folks

The connection of Noriko, Koichi and Akiko was absolutely touching.. (Each of them lost their parents.)
There was at one point I forgot that Godzilla was in the movie, I was more into seeing them bond as a family unit.

I think it just depends on what your expectations are, I personally prefer the Monsterverse Godzilla over Godzilla -1.0 but Godzilla -1.0 set the bar for movie monsters, just like the original Godzilla back 70 years ago.

If one thing that Makes Pacific Rim so good, is that The Mecha Vs the Kaijus elements helps us to humanize the Characters while Making the humans and Kaijus memorable!

Mako’s Personal Journey was amazing, it’s why Fans remember her the most because the Mind Bond she had with Reilly ends up showing us how awful and terrifying being chased by a creature So much Bigger than you is Traumatic!
