How many times can the same story be told? ALOT. In the events of Gozilla Minus one, while the title doesnt make much sense probably because I am a noob of sorts, the movie, is actually really good. A giant Tyrant lizard, becomes exposed to radiation creating the New variant of Godzilla. However, there is something more to this than we have seen before. Infectious cells that seem to be able to spread to humanity. What exactly is that? Lets discuss it in todays episode!

Thank you for watching Roanoke Gaming and I hope you enjoy The SUPRISING INFECTION Of GODZILLA MINUS ONE Explained

The director has stated that Godzilla's pre-mutated form already had regenerative abilities, but the mutations from the bombs radiation basically cranked those abilities up to 11. When his body tried to heal itself from the radiation burns from the bomb tests, the mutations caused him to keep regenerating much more than normal, which is what made him so much bigger and stronger than before.

Fun fact: the plane used for the final attack on Godzilla is a Kyūshū J7W Shinden. It was a prototype, and only two were ever built at the time. One was scrapped, and the other is partially on display at Dulles Airport. For whatever reason, they never put it back together or flew it after taking it back to the US.

The one in the movie is a full-scale replica built by Toho Studios. The replica was apparently paid for by the Tachiarai Peace Memorial Museum, where it is on display.

Hey Roanoke, I have a question for you.
When we die and see a bright light, what if that bright light belongs to an intergalactic angler fish, attracting us towards it so it can consume our eternal soul.

Noriko: "Would you still love me if i were a godzilla irradiated mutant?"
Shikishima: *Confused Screaming*

I love Godzilla's movement on land. It looks so robotic. It's like the brain is sending the right signals, but the connection glitches for a second or two. Makes it all the monstrous.
Also, quick correction: The photos weren't of Shikishima's parents. They were of the mechanics and their families. The chief mechanic gave them as a means to give Shikishima extra-survivor's guilt. It's an important plot-point, because he wasn't gonna answer Shikishima's letters, so Shikishima sent him letters blaming him for the deaths of his subordinates to lure him out and beg him for help.

according to the director, zilla had heightened regeneration, so it would’ve survived the plane cannons, since it also helped it survive the nuke, and reached the size it did due to overcompensating against the damage

It's been stated that he already had the healing factor before he got Radioactive mutate also thank goodness it wasn't a Anglerfish that got muted one of the scariest godzilla ever especially in the water

Fun fact, most non-avian dinosaurs did not actually have hallow bones. While some did, the largest dinosaurs like titanosaurs would not have been able to reach such sizes without solid bone. Instead, they're believed to have had air sacs throughout their body much like birds, which also allowed them to absorb more oxygen.

30:03 Reason for that whole exchange was because the director was specifically calling out the older Japanese government decisions - Kamikaze pilots were brainwashed with propaganda to die for their country citing Bushido and other honor related themes so that no one would question why the government was buying up airplanes with faulty ejection seats.

That was it. That was the entire reason for the practice. Because their leaders wanted to shave off monetary costs at the cost of their citizens' lives. It's part of the movie's thesis about coming together as a community and saying FU to government types that don't actually pay the price the common man does with their choices.

POLITICAL COMMENTARY GODZILLA IS *BACK* BABY!

This is just my own headcanon, but I believe that the reason why it absolutely had to be Mr. Tachibana (the mechanic) is because Shikishima didn't want to live with the things he had done, or didn't do. He had PTSD and was probably facing horrible depression, especially after seeing someone else die to Godzilla and believing it once again to he his fault. He didn't want to make it home after the final battle, and in his mind, Tachibana wouldn't want him to either. It would be easy, in his mind, to convince Tachibana to put in the kamakaze bomb without anyone else knowing, because Tachibana also wanted him to die for his inaction.

9:38 Those aren't his family members, those are the family photos of the other mechanics on the island. The guy who handed him the pictures was the mechanic that was still alive, he gave it to him to guilt him.

Good video, but a few things:

-yes, the axe DID land on Godzilla’s face in GVK. HOWEVER, not only did it merely DAZE him, but it pissed him off more than anything (as it’s confirmed the hit bruised his ego as opposed to actually hurting him). Plus Godzilla in the Monsterverse is confirmed as his own thing and “special” and that the others were “Godzilla like creatures”.

-Godzilla’s pre-mutated film is confirmed as Godzilla in the film, and he’s actually intelligent according to the novel. He doesn’t kill Shikishima because he didn’t provoke him (he knew the pilot was there) and had a symbiotic relationship with the Odo Island natives, as he brought them fish and the natives brought him food.

-the firepower on Odo Island would NOT have killed the pre-mutated form, as that form DOES have regeneration. The director stated "Correct. Godzilla has been affected by radiation since Operation Crossroads in Bikini Atoll, but before that, Godzilla was unaffected by radiation and his regenerative ability was unrelated to radiation. "Correct. Godzilla has been affected by radiation since Operation Crossroads in Bikini Atoll, but before that, Godzilla was unaffected by radiation and his regenerative ability was unrelated to radiation.
They [Godzilla's kind] are ordinary creatures, or rather monsters, that have nothing to do with radiation, and have extremely strong regenerative abilities. However, during Operation Crossroads, his skin was burnt by nuclear weapons and turned into a mess, but when he was regenerating it, he went out of control and became gigantic. [bitter smile]"

-the official novel also dived into how his regenerative abilities is what saved him from the nuclear blast, but he mutated and couldn’t return to his previous form: “And in the sea near there was the same
GOJIRA who annihilated the garrison of Odo Island. GOJRA was also consumed by the intense heat and radiation from the atomic bomb. His skin boiled and rolled up, his flesh was scorched, his eyes turned cloudy white... tremendous pain and suffering attacked GOJIRA. If he were a normal creature, he would have died long ago. However, GOJIRA was able to overcome this with his unique regenerative ability. Gradually, his body was regenerated while feeling tremendous anger towards the people who had brought him suffering. Even with GOJIRA's reincarnation ability, he was unable to regain his original form.
The radioactive material that penetrated deep into the body surface caused error after error in the cells of the epidermis, changing its appearance to resemble that of a rugged rock. Its dorsal fin grew rapidly, and branches spread out in all directions like snowflakes. It formed layers, resembling oyster shells that had been living on the ocean floor for decades.

Its already large body rapidly grew in size, as if it was going out of control, and it became a gigantic body that far exceeded its previous appearance.”

3:08 he's actually still known as Godzilla at this point with one of his official nicknames being the Odo Island monster

Nuclear spinal fluid being spat out with a death ray as a result of radioactive bones being superheated? That is, without question, much cooler sounding than just “laser breath”. Good thinking!

I would like to say that his ‘not girlfriend’ would very much LOVE to be his gilfriend. He just doesnt think he deserves to be alive and doesn’t want to burden her with his sins

Bit of an asterisk point: it is revealed in the novelization of the movie that Godzilla did already posses his healing abilities, and that what allowed him to survive the bomb in the first place. Even if he didn't, if he survived a nuke why would a 20mm manage the job?

It's important to remember that Shikishima is dealing with not only heavy PTSD, but of tremendous amount of survivors guilt. That is the primary reason why he doesn't advance the relationship. People in those situations have a very hard time for forming long lasting relationships, compounded with feeling they deserve to be punished or they do not deserve to feel happy.

Hilariously I just finished watching this moving this morning and when they were talking about drowning him and then if that doesn't work, rising him back up for decompression, I was like "I need Roanoke to do a episode on this and tell me if that would actually work or not." So thank you YT gods lol.
