I am sure there will be many new composers and musicians like me who will continue to find your vids useful and may not express it. If u r reading this, just know that u have made our lives a little better and I am sure these vids will help a lot more folks in future. Cheers my friend! And hope u have found peace with ur new endeavour.

Just a note of caution about freezing tracks in Logic Pro X.
It does appear to be a great way to free up CPU when your system is struggling under the load of multiple plugins but I for one found that doing so can lead to problems. I'd watched this video & decided to give it a try on a project that was getting oveloaded and it worked a treat. Fantastic, I thought - what a great trick! The problem came when I unfroze a particular track to tweak an instrument - suddenly there was a loud click from one monitor and I'd lost all output from that channel - and nothing showed on the left hand channel on the main output mixer strip. Individual instrument mixer channels showed activity on both channels but only one side in the Stero Out. Every time I hit play in the transport there was the same loud click from one speaker and the project played back perfectly...just only one channel.
I loaded other projects which all played back fine - the freezing / unfreezing process seemed to be the culprit, especially on a particular instrument instance - Arturia's Mellotron V - though I don't know if that was just coincidental: that was just the one I originally unfroze to do the desired tweak. Looking at various online user forums, I found a lot of people complaining of similar, though not identical problems - audio dropout on individual frozen tracks, mostly. I reverted to earlier versions of the project but the problem persisted. I restarted my computer - still the same problem. I did multiple reversions without any psitive result & was on the verge of abandoning the project altogether but then unfroze all tracks, resaved the project, restarted the computer and LPX, and suddenly everything was back to normal. Phew!
Anyway, my takeaway from this experience is that I'll probably never use the freeze function again and I would advise other LPX users to proceed with caution when doing so.
Great channel by the way, Mikael!

Thank you for this video! I've been trying to figure out how to lower CPU and someone suggested to freeze some of the tracks. So then I found your video. Super helpful!

I’m so happy I have found your channel. There are so many great topics with a wealth of information. You really explain things well and don’t fly around the screen with the mouse so fast, like so many other channel’s. Your videos also are very welcoming and approachable and I leave them understanding and using, right away, many tips.

Question, when you freeze a track, does that turn off or deactivate the plugin that might be taking a lot of computer juice similar to how protools can deactivate plugins/instruments? Or do you do that by clicking on the Blue power icon on the track? Does that deactivate the plugin/instrument/track? I couldn't figure out if those things do that. I've frozen all my many instruments before and it has still peaked before more on the "Disk I/O" meter than the adjacent "Audio" meter on the left side. Do you know why? I would think that if no plugins were playing it could handle just simple audio if that's what's happening with tracks frozen. Thank you!
