Oh so Russia knows how not to hit it's own pipelines but leaving hospitals or shelters for women and children unharmed seems to be to hard of a task. 🤔

I'm amazed it took them this long.

Dear Russia, these are not Economic Sanctions. These are mere hand-tailored Special Economic Operations designed to help grow your economy long term.

Perhaps if someone painted "Women and Children! Do Not Bomb!" on the pipelines, Russia would "accidentally" hit them with missiles?

It's bitter medicine to take, but new energy sources now MUST be developed by Europe. Depending on Russia for so much of their energy demands has been foolhardy.

The safest place to hide the tanks, howitzers, and troops is near the pipeline, Russian won't attack it....lol.

Thank goodness. I wish EU would have stopped gas imports ages ago.

Thats why Putin built Nordstream 2 knowing very well what Ukrainians will do. But Germany instead had other ideas.

And rightfully so. They literally die because the money it generates to their enemy.

I'll be honest, if I was in charge in Ukraine, the first thing I would have done when Russia invaded would have been to destroy the Russian pipelines in the country to attack their economy in a way that will hurt Russia for decades.

Zelenskyy had stated that if Europe didn't stop buying Russian gas he would shut the pipe lines down. I personally thought that would make Europe angry with him.

Ukraine is not against europe, right? why would they halt any resources going to Europe?

It really strikes me how privileged Europe is. Russia blockades Odessa to prevent grain shipments to Egypt and the rest of Africa, but gas shipments through a war zone continue to Europe.

Blocking Russian Gas now won't just hurt Russia, it will also hurt the EU who are also helping Ukraine

Finally, Ukraine did for us what we were too coward and spoiled to do ourselves. We Europeans simply can't stand the idea of getting cold hands in order to save millions. Sharing thoughts and prayers, yes, being inconvenienced ... no way.

Finland understands a great deal about Russification even before they decided to become Finland. These days Finns absolutely hate neo Stalinist's from 'you know where'. I'm all for Helsinki.

Irresponsibly unresearched, uninformed reporting from DW!

The reasons for Ukraine's shutoff are simple: they cannot ensure the safety of the pipeline when they cannot access their stations and the separatists, Russians are trying to tap supply along the way. Better to temporarily turn it off than to have to rebuild destroyed pipes, stations, or put out catastrophic blazes in places it cannot access. EU supply is a side note here, they want to protect this infrastructure for later.

Did you do ANY background for this story? Very disappointed, I was used to trusting your reporting.
