We all deserve our best chance.

Here's a random, but meaningful assortment of things that have given me comfort on my path to acceptance. Think of them as a hug from me to you.

“I’d rather go naked than wear the coat the world has made for me.”
– Dorothy Allison

Hedwig and the Angry Inch – A Broadway show and movie about accepting others and yourself. It’s beautiful. Hilarious. Heartbreaking. Wonderful. I’ve seen it five times and it just gets better and better.

She was 26 when she filmed this. Coming out at any age can be scary. I’m very proud of her for giving herself her best chance!

This PISSES me off. When Joey and Conner came out, everyone was SO ACCEPTING. But when she came out, everyone acted like the world just got sucked into a black hole. LET HER BE WHO SHE WANTS TO BE

I know I don't know you personally but I've watched your videos since the beginning. I've always looked up to you and this doesn't change that. You deserve to be happy and loved for who you are. You are beautiful inside and out. We all support you no matter what. So happy you can now have your "best chance!"

So I have been getting tweets and messages about a brave girl named Ingrid Nilsen coming out on Youtube and holy crap I am SO happy I came over to check you out! So honestly I have never watched you before this video, had no idea who you were and I haven't seen any of your prior videos before this one.... but I just want to say how happy I am for you! You are helping so many young kids by doing this; sharing your positivity and bravery with the world and showing that being gay isn't a bad thing! We need more people like you in the world. So again, congrats Ingrid! This is truly amazing and I'm glad I have another sister on my side of the fence ;) <3

What is really important and amazing to me is that Ingrid is somewhat representing a huge issue in the lesbian community, and that is feminine invisibility. Ingrid is a huge influential person that I believe will help shed light on feminine lesbians like myself, and change the social perspective of a "typical lesbian". Being feminine and gay can be really hard and I think its very brave and amazing that Ingrid found the courage to finally express her sexuality! Saying someone doesn't look gay is extremely offensive because there is no one look! Be open to the possibility and reality that a girl can be feminine and gay! Congratulations Ingrid!

All these people calling her out on her saying gay instead of lesbian, Saying she's crying for attention. No, she's crying because she is so happy that she can finally come out. Finally be herself, and not lie to keep people happy. I support her 100%.

I really hate to be the bearer of bad news (read as: not really, bc I could give less of a shit.) but to all the people who are leaving negative messages on Ingrid's video, to those of you who say you're fans of hers, yet still left a homophobic comment. You're not really, and you were never truly a fan of hers to begin with, because a true fan of Ingrid's would support her.

It took her a lot of courage to come out, and I'm really happy for her.

To all the people saying that it doesn't matter that she's gay or that no one cares: You don't know what it's like to come out. She did this for no one but herself. Coming out is like a weight off your shoulders, and she did it for HER, not for attention, not to jump on the "coming out bandwagon" as I saw someone say. Coming out is a big part of being lgbt+ for most people and it's a huge relief, something that you should not mock or dismiss.
