How was NATO expansion "threatening the security of Russia'? It's a phrase that's often used to justify Putin's aggression, but never actually backed up with an actual explanation.

I have tremendous respect for Singapore and its founder Mr. Lee. A very young and small country that independence was imposed on her. Not much of natural resources and stated from below zero yet now one of the highest per capita income in the world.

Kishore Mahbubani asked, "Are European leaders no longer thinking long-term or considering the big picture?" In reality, this shift began even before the fall of the Soviet Union. It was evident well before Kissinger pointed it out.

So, this professor claims that all the countries should accept dominance of China because it is the oldest continuous civilization?!
And what if I count some other oldest and continues civilizations?! - will it help to deserve respect and recognition on international level despite the size and level of development?!

And what about the free will of big and small nations and countries?! His opinion neglects national interests of other states.

And, come on, Boomers, leave the past alone. It’s a free world now! because some countries are big and strong doesn’t mean they shouldn’t respect independence and free choice of other countries.

And one more - if he thinks that EU is “unwise” to allow China to “develop” Africa, it’s because it means developing of political and economical influences of China in Africa that doesn’t work for EU. Everyone is overwhelmed with Chinese influence worldwide.

This professor is an ambassador of China’s imperial policy and I can’t agree with him.

He missed the important information because he was not involved in those behind the door discussions - in 2008 US encouraged Ukraine, not Europe, to go for NATO.
He is a clever scholar but he was not there. Listen Jeffrey Sachs speech, he was actually there.

The problem with Europe is that it is a bureaucratic amalgamation run by ideologues. European interests has been reduced to cultural interests and progress is now captured in ideological outcomes.

As a Central European all I can say is that his claims are humiliatingly ignorant. It's painfully obvious to me he has no knowledge about the region, the relations here, the local geopolitical relations, etc. Example? He says "Europe should leave NATO". Does he even know that "Europe" isn't in NATO? There is no such thing as "Europe" in geopolitical sense. There is no such entity. European countries are NATO members. Now that he knows this, I'd love to see him fly to Estonia or Poland and tell people they should leave NATO. That would be a sight to see. They'd call him a clown and ask to go back to Singapore with this level of advice. If this is "Singapore's best", then Singapore is significantly overrated.

Professor Kishore is one of the world top diplomat with extensive knowledge of Asia and Western diplomacy. I was very fortunate to attend 2 of his lectures and was very impressed, still am.

The formation of the European Union looked good on paper, but the level of bureaucracy was always going to be a major hurdle.

I am tired of people speaking for us, from the comfort of their home, very far away from Russia. I live in Romania. War is on our border. Our people, just like Ukrainians, just like Polish people, remember what the Russians are capable of. We heard the stories about their soldiers' crimes, from our grandparents. We did not forget. We also didn't forget being coerced into adopting communism. WE WANT NO MORE OF THAT! If we want to live like the West, not Russia, AND TO JOIN NATO, IT IS OUR RIGHT TO DO SO!
