I was gonna have Dabchick comment something snarky, but that was far too sweet of a shoutout. Thank you! 🫡

Usually all the really cool Bobby projects I want to make are way beyond my skillset but this seems easy enough to follow!
As a wise man once said
I want that

Well, the strangest thing just happened. . . my phone broke many months ago and when I bought my new one, I didn't log into my YouTube account for ages. I have probably gone over a year without watching a Bobby Duke video.
Then while walking home today I found a really cool stick that looked like a Harry Potter wand. I picked it up and thought to myself "I could carve that into a wand and give it to my sister as a gift" however, I only have a craft knife at home. I thought "Bobby Duke would know how to carve this using only the craft knife". By the time I'd got home and put the stick down I'd totally forgotten my thought process. Then what should pop up on my YouTube recommendations just a few hours later - This video!! Perfect timing.

man it really doesn't pay to be a random breakable item in Bobby's shed.

Also I ordered the kit immediately, I would love Bobby Duke kits to be a thing so i'm happy to support it.

Pro tip for sandpaper. If you fold the paper over so the rough side is on the inside and the soft side is on the outside, it brakes the paper so you don't need to cut it. Works better on lower gritt then high gritt.

The way you balance unhinged and entertainment is nothing short of master class. I LOVE your videos, and I'm here for it. I also enjoy the various cool things you make.😅

I've been having a bit of a rough time, and watching craft father teach us all how to whittle was exactly what I needed.
Carving is one art that is hard to get into. You can't just find carving classes outside of college. I guess maybe if you live in a big city, but I don't.
Years ago, you inspired me to go out and get a rotary tool and carve rocks. I never made anything all that good, but I really enjoyed it. I had always wanted to carve something. Thank you for that, Bobby. You're the best <3

Also, people of the comments, let's sweep that kit! We can make this possible. Let's do it.

As a finn, I appreciated that joke 🇫🇮

And, btw, your art is amazing, and this tutorial was easy to follow!

I love that you're making a video on the accessibility of this craft. So many people get intimidated by this and I always tell them, it is so much easier than it may seem as long as you're taking your time. Just so everyone knows who is unaware, you can also get fairly decent chisels for about $10-$20 and it's definitely a lot better for your hands than a knife like this, especially when you're cutting into something like maple. There's so many ways to do this kind of work so don't be afraid of trying new things

Not only did he do a Napoleon Dynamite reference, he ALSO put in a Nacho Libre reference? This is why I love your channel, Bobby. The art, the humor, and overall just a good time <3

I love that Bobby has all the resources and tools to have made these, far faster and easier, but he didn't. He used the piece of wood, and exacto (with lots of blades), a pencil, and some sandpaper. All to show us that you don't need any fancy tools to make something cool. To me, it's just so cool that Bobby takes the time, himself, to do these things and prove it can be done. Too often, I see diy'ers make a video, they use all these fancy tools, and they say "if you dont have 'this' it's ok, you can still get the same results using 'that.'" Yet, they don't consider that some people don't even have access "that." Whatever the alternative item/tool/resource is, it's usually something that is still out of reach for the average diy'er, especially beginners. But here we have Bobby Dukes, outright saying this can be done with an exacto knife AND doing it. Then saying you can use other tools if you have, and want, to use them.

I have always really admired your vulnerability about anxiety. I have panic disorder myself, and I get the wackadoodle ectopic beats also. Some days they seem to be non stop, so I can totally empathize with how you were feeling standing over your desk working and being frustrated by them. They used to give me so much anxiety too, but I’m leaning to ignore them. I’m a full time artist too and it can all be hard to live with, especially when you’re mostly alone with your thoughts. Glad the therapy has been helpful for you!

I honestly doubt this will be seen. But you have helped me so much discover my art, and inspired my children to follow theirs.

I am uk based, but I think the kit is an amazing idea.

I am a poor man, nobody loves me, but ... if I can order one and it be donated to someone else in the states who can't afford it. I would be happy to do so if it meant that they got made.

Take care lad, you are a absolute diamond.

Bobby, thank you for this! I am a knitter/crocheter and have been obsessed with the idea of making my own nostepinne (and maybe one as a gift to my sister-in-law, who is a crocheter, if it comes out nice enough)- a ball winder- for years. I've never felt like it was something I could really attempt, but the principles in carving one are probably similar to this. After watching this video, I feel like maybe I COULD do it. I think I'm going to have to give it a try.
