More Information about Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty):
Abdominoplasty or "tummy tuck" is a cosmetic surgery procedure used to make the abdomen thinner and more firm. The surgery involves the removal of excess skin and fat from the middle and lower abdomen in order to tighten the muscle and fascia of the abdominal wall. This type of surgery is usually sought by patients with loose or sagging tissues, that develop after pregnancy or major weight loss.

Procedures
Abdominoplasty operations vary in scope and are frequently subdivided into categories. Depending on the extent of the surgery, a complete abdominoplasty can take from 1 to 5 hours. A partial abdominoplasty (mini-tuck abdominoplasty) can be completed between 1 and 2 hours.

I am 5 weeks post-op - Abdominoplasty w/severe DR repair (separation was >5 inches across). Registered Nurse here - not planning on returning to work until week 7 and I don't even think that is enough time for heavy lifting of patients and equipment. Everyone is different, but it the job one has is physical - will need more time.

Question how much different is recovery with a panniculectomy compared to a tummy tuck? I am 30 days out from a panniculectomy and abdominoplasty and the recovery is worrying me

I would like to know when I might expect to get in and out of bed by myself (propped up with pillows, of course)? Thanks for the video with such good information about recovery.

I took 3 weeks off work because I didn't have enough PTO (it was 1 years worth of saved up PTO) I went back to work and it was awful, I had to delegate a lot, I would get light headed and was so fatigued when I got home. If I could go back, I'd take STD until I got to 5 or 6 weeks. I also had a fair amount of complications. I.e. persistent seroma, hematoma blood clot, seroma encapsulation/psuedobrusa, infection. All these happened at the 2-3 week mark and had a dominoe effect. By 2 months po I had the psuedobrusa diagnosed. Currently, 4 months post op and still dealing with it.😢
