This was not easier than I though. It was exactly as easy as I knew it was from the start.

or add 8 and 14 and subtract 20 from that value🤯

C'mon, we all know that the real answer is "isn't it summer?"

I love how there is more than one way to solve

Wait! You can determine the size of the two unshaded boxes on either side without the algebra. 20-14=6 (left box). 20-8=12 (Right box). So 20-(6+12)=2. 2x10=20.

Reminder to all of you viewers. These videos are made for educational purposes. Mostly geared towards people struggling with math concepts or just need refreshers on certain units.

Yes there are many shortcuts all of you probably conjure in your head, but the purpose of these shorts are to show the process to people who DON’T know those shortcuts.
You don’t need to brag about finding a faster and simpler solution. I can assure you this man knows all of them and can do it in his head faster than y’all.
None of these problems are ever difficult to me, and they’re actually pretty fun. I can’t say the same for others, and that’s ok, that’s the purpose of these shorts.

Learning the long way is necessary before learning shortcuts. Let the man teach the way he wants to.

Or you can just add 8 and 14 together and subtract 20. Then multiply by 10 and done.

Sincerly form Turkey. I love watching your videos. I have only one request from you, can you ask a little more difficult question, teacher?

The drawing is confusing because the 8 covers around half of the rectangle, therefore the width looks greater than 2. Actually the shaded area is twice as wide than it should be...

i'll definitely answer "isn't it summer" without hesitation

I mean you could do that but it’s a little confusing 😅. Another way to do it is to do
14 + 8, which is 22, minus 20. And you get 2… the X was just a little unnecessary.

I did this mentally without needing any equations it is already clear that the shape is basically 2 rectangular shapes, so the sides of the shades area is 10 the other side is just 16-14 which is 2, 10*2=20

Could'nt you just do this.
8+14 = 22
22–20 = 2
10×2 = 20

I did 20-14 and 20-8 to get lengths of 12 for the long side past the rectangle and 6 for the short side before the rectangle. Add them up you get 18. Do 20-18 and you get 2. 10×2=20

If the top line equals 22 and the bottom line is 20, then the shape is not a rectangle. Therefore we cannot assume the vertical line is parallel and equal to the side equalling 10. There is also no indication that any of the lines are parallel.

I did it differently I subtracted 8-14 to get the real side. Then subtracted 8-6=2 and lastly 2*10=20

So I get B as the answer 14+8-2x=20 and it solves down to 1 and then you multiply by 10 to get and area of 10 as the answer.

Area of big rectangle= 20×10 = 200

Area of small box= 8×10 = 80
Area of big box = 14×10 = 140
Total area of the 2 boxes = 80+140 = 220
So, area of shaded area = 220-200 = 20

20 minus 8 is 12. (12 is the area that the unshaded 8 doesn't cover).

Then, 14 minus 12 is 2. In other words... 14, less the 12. (The 12 is the unshaded portion of the 12. That leaves 2 as the shaded portion's width)

2 times 10 is 20. (Width times height.)

20... Done

Arial measurement from space otherwise we would use another value. So we have to measure from depth using leagues to measure sea level, space, from outer space, measure earth while using momentum and inertia with a telegraph and have an out put of troys.
