Almost every American wants Gerrymandering outlawed. Why is this still a thing?

I'm thrilled that the Democratic party has found a foundation on which to make elections more sound. Learning from our mistakes and fighting back on several fronts is key; gerrymandering is a serious issue for voters. It no doubt assisted Trump in some areas, allowing him to claim a position he never should of had.

Here in Michigan, I've seen some of our most exciting young potential legislators sidelined by gerrymandered districts. They are well known and fired up about issues in their immediate area, but people 50 miles away don't have a clue about who they are or what the relevant issues are. Those happened to be Democrats but could just as easily as have been Republicans. Gerrymandered districts hurts everyone. My Wisconsin grandparents were active in the state Republican Party. My grandfather lobbied for laws that would help small and medium sized businesses. Although they hosted formal dinner parties frequently in their Madison home, they would not have allowed Trump in the door. Trump does not represent the values of Wisconsin Republicans. I grew up in a time when Americans were working together to recover from the depression and from the war. Sounds like today's circumstances, if we weren't being distracted by a con man.

WTF? So a GOP governor has to be sued before he will DO HIS JOB!?! Figures.

Governors should not have that much power. They should not get to decide if a special election is held or not it should be a law because it is up to the people who fills those positions because they are elected positions.

It's mingboggling to me that we only started doing this kind of anti-gerrymandering work after we lost the Executive Branch, imagine what we could've done if the Obama Justice Dept. had been working on this after 2010, 2012, 2014...

So many practices in government seem obviously corrupt. But how do you get politicians to change policies that benefit them? If nothing else we have seen recently that politicians can't be trusted to do the right thing.

Well looks like Scott Walker is off his mess again. That's just great, last time he got pretty close to Sarah Palin territory.

Sounds like Walker is being like Trump, wanting everything for himself and trying to destroy everything.

If you are going to change electoral boundaries ( I believe it's based on population changes in the US, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong) surely the sensible thing would be to have it done by a non-partisan/neutral group of civil servants. Here in the UK we have a mechanism called the Electoral Boundaries Comission which fulfils this purpose although recently there have been accusations of political interference it largely does a good job.

All Republican policies basically help 1% of the population, yet 50% of the country vote for them because of the narrative of national security and job security. Spending trillions on national defence when you only have 2 friendly neighbours is madness.

Walker has failed to correct our gerrymandering, even though he has been court ordered, to do so. Of course he is running for re election! He's gutted our schools, screwed our teachers to the point we can't find teachers! My husband retired from 30 years of service. We use to have great schools. We dropped claiming property taxes on our State taxes, which tanked us middle class income. He's used our State money, to bring in a business from China, yet fails to give any help to established businesses. As an example, I use to get a tax return of $2, 000.00, and this year a whole $67.00. I'm middle class, and boy did we get hit hard. Walker is no friend to Wisconsin. Walker does nothing until his years of election. the other 3 years, nothing.

I love how Obama and Eric Holder are working behind the scenes to undermine these clown republicans.

When you hand off to a story at the end of a video, why don't you ever have that video on the "up next" button?

I would like to watch the entire Rachel Maddow show the following morning. (I don't have tv subscription) But, it is hard to find her show in entirety. When I watch the segments, and they end with "we'll be back . . ." it is hard to find the next segment. Please make it possible to find the entire show. Or, at least label the clips to identify which ones are Rachel Maddow clips. I really like the way she presents information.
