🤍🙂🌎Just wanted to mention that many thrift stores have salvage companies they work with that will take old worn/ripped/stained etc clothes that people think they should throw away because no one will want them. At the non-profit thrift store I volunteer with, the salvage company gives us 10 cents per bag for these types of items. It may just be a dime but every penny helps the organization AND it keeps these kinds of things out of the landfills🌞

Your closet is amazing! I just don't know how people wear that many of items. I think I may own a total of 40ish piece of clothing and still only wear the same 7 outfits haha

Decluttering always feels so good! My daughter is almost the same height as me and I’ve slowly been giving her clothes I’ve had since I was a teenager. She loves to wear my clothes, so it’s nice to be able to give her clothes i haven’t wore in awhile. Helps to save money and most importantly, she’s happy because she gets to keep my clothes. Lol

Try wooden hangers!!! Makes a total 180! Soothing most elegant I got my grandkids into that type hangers I buy little by little

I never thought about color coordinating the closet. I get more function from all types of clothing being together. All blazers, all tanks, all short sleeve blouses, etc.

I love when you organize and get rid of things. I do it all the time too. Feel so much better with less “stuff”. As far as Holiday decor I have decided to use only fresh greens, flowers fruit etc to decorate. So easy to undecorate since you don’t save it. I do use Christmas China, sterling silver pieces, crystal to make it beautiful. Same with Easter. ( I read several years ago that using fresh, live plants/ fruit
is great feng shui ) get Ideas from Colonial Williamsburg decor books.

Lauren I retired 2 months ago and cleaning out my closet has been high on my to do list. I’ve put it off because I know it’s gonna be a big 7 hour job, like yours. Unfortunately my hubs and I share a closet and he doesn’t want to get rid of a thing. I thought you had more tennis shoes and handbags! Hi Lauren. What a daunting task, but you made it. Feels so good. I am in Tennessee and we have orange metal containers in various areas that are sponsored by Mother's against drunk drivers. They get a portion of anything donated and you can put anything in there from a ripped up stuffed animal, basically anything material, clothes, shoes, purses, and everything gets shipped to Texas where it is gone through, and they separate it into whether it could be sold to a thrift store or sent to China to make seats. Nothing goes into a landfill. Google where to recycle old fabric.

Some clear shoe organizers would be ideal in your closet. They'd help manage the dust, utilize vertical space whilst still being able to see what you have.

Decluttering my closet... I've been threatening to do that for a long time! I wish mine was a big as yours! Actually, I could stand to have a whole room! I need to begin spending 15 minutes a day doing just this! Tossing out many old torn or worn out things will be a great start!

Lauren, you did such a great job!! Proud of you :-) A tip: hang all your hanger in the opposite direction, when you wear something, switch them and after 5, 6, months you clearly see what you did wear and what you didn´t even touch :-)

What an undertaking. I've been doing mine but have had to do it in sections. Technically speaking I could get rid of more, but I got rid of 50-60% I love that Enzo had a little place carved out in there for napping.

Hi Lauren, I recently started forcing myself to declutter. Two things that help ALot: 1. If you haven’t worn it in 2 years, get rid of it, and, 2. For every new item you buy, one item has to leave the closet. Plus, cleaning out the closet means you have room for more and get to go shopping🤗

I worked, retired from a bank job after 32 yrs and had LOTS of nice clothes.I just got rid of over 100 pieces of clothes out of my walk in closet, drawers last Friday, Saturday at a big 100 mile yard sale called Peaches to Beaches. I've been DECLUTTERING my whole house and had over 200+items at the yard sale. Made very good $$$.
