Inspector John Gadget is a famous cyborg policeman with a seemingly endless amount of gadgets he can summon by saying "Go-Go-Gadget" then the gadget's name. The word "Gadget" is actually part of the name, as hinted at in some episodes. Although he has all this equipment, Gadget is ultimately incompetent and clueless (in a manner similar to the Inspector Clouseau character of the Pink Panther series), and overcomes obstacles and survives perilous situations by sheer good luck, with help from his faithful niece Penny and intelligent dog Brain who both must secretly help him solve each case. Even his gadgets often malfunction, which Gadget often deals with by exclaiming that he needs to get them fixed.

The composition of this song, plus the types of sounds chosen for the instruments, plus how each section mirrors themes that are repeated in the show (notice how when he opens the safe a portion of the Chief's theme plays for a moment) make this opening an incredibly intelligent use of the limited song assets for this show that sets the tone for the entire experience. Shuki Levy is one of the GOATs.

I was born in '85 and mainly saw Gadget in reruns. This theme has been stuck in my head for 31 years now, even when it disappeared from the airwaves. It's just magnificent. As an adult, I find Inspector Gadget to be a little predictable and formulaic, but the enjoyment I get when revisiting it rightly crushes those more grown up thoughts under it's boots in a way I just can't deny. Inspector Gadget is a ton of fun and a treasured piece of my past. Few things can even come close to matching it for me. Well done, Dic.

even though the 80s were infamous on toy-driven shows, this one stood out as a genuinely good show, I discovered IG from an old ipad game where u could unlock episodes in-game, and then my dad told us about his childhood watching inspector gadget. It's a pretty cool show
