Crab team - better not mess with the gang

Introducing: Our team of Dungeness crabs and a sculpin 🦀🐟!

Earlier this week, our team set crab traps at Sp’akw’us Feather Park to monitor for invasive European green crabs. This effort not only supports early detection but also provided valuable training for our staff ahead of the summer sampling season.

Although European green crabs haven't been spotted in our region yet, they're just a stone's throw away on the West and Central coasts of Vancouver Island. That’s why we’re on the lookout for them; the good news? We found zero European green crabs in our traps this time!

All the crabs featured in our reel are native Dungeness crabs—an important part of a healthy aquatic ecosystem.
