The movie was made on a shoe string budget of $30 to $40 thousand dollars. And it managed to make some $200 to $300 million dollars with a worldwide release. Correct me if I’m wrong on that. All the theories of the movie are purely fan made. The creators and actors all explain the making of the film, and surprisingly it was just a camera and friends who were given money by the director and producers to buy the equipment and to go out into the woods and just film. After that they just put it all together in the editing process and we were given the final product. It’s cool to watch some of their old interviews. They really had no idea it was going to be as big as it was.

I am old enough to give you the true background about this movie... when this movie came out, Hollywood made it seem like somebody found this lost recording of these group of people who were investigating the local Blair Witch urban legend in that town, they documented their experience until the "Blair witch" started taking them out one by one... at the time this was the most scariest movie out... but we all thought at that time that this recording was from actual people who disappeared... watch the movie i would recommend... but a year later on the MTV movie or music awards the "disappeared people" came out to proclaim it was all a lie... it was basically a social experiment...😊

The marketing was genius! Prior to the movie’s release they produced a fake documentary about the Blair Witch folklore which really sold the story. By the time the movie premiered EVERYONE thought it was legit lost footage of kids that went missing. It was exciting and the movie delivered.

Fun theory but ignores a couple things.. finding Josh's heart outside tent or do you think he brought another fresh heart with him? Lol plus they filmed deleted scenes which show the witch. Another thing is how the old lady foreshadowed everything in the beginning then it actually played out like she said

That information is wrong. It was a witch (in the movie) (not real life) and josh was Heather's documentary partner that she did know but not that much. Her media studies college lecturer had reservations about her doing this social expose with josh saying that he wasn't doing it for the same reasons as Heather was and that he was just goofing around in the hopeful event that he could piggyback on the hard work that Heather was achieving for her highers so he could get his awards for less efforts. the film goes on you can tell that something isn't right and bad stuff happens to

Great movie but it's not a real story lol I they had us fooled when it came out but it has been years and there have been squels and everything...so idk why some people still think it happened. The actors even went on a talk show after fooling us for so long.
